LATAM Accounting and Tax Supervisor
Position Overview
The LATAM Accounting and Tax Supervisor will provide regional leadership for accounting, tax, financial reporting, and compliance activities across Latin America, ensuring accurate, timely, and compliant financial reporting in accordance with US GAAP, local statutory requirements, and corporate policies.
This role will own the end-to-end monthly, quarterly, and year-end close processes across the region, ensuring balance sheet integrity, financial statement accuracy, reconciliation completeness, and adherence to corporate reporting requirements. The position will play a critical role in evaluating accounting impacts arising from business activities, regulatory changes, and evolving reporting requirements while partnering closely with global and regional Finance leadership.
In addition, the role will lead and develop a team of accountants, strengthen internal controls and audit readiness, support finance transformation initiatives, and serve as a key business partner to cross-functional stakeholders, external auditors, tax advisors, and outsourced service providers.
Key Responsibilities
Lead and oversee the end-to-end monthly, quarterly, and year-end close process across LATAM, ensuring accurate and timely submission of financial results, balance sheets, P&L statements, general ledger activities, and supporting reconciliations.
Ensure balance sheet integrity through timely review and approval of reconciliations, journal entries, accruals, provisions, fixed assets, leases, equity accounts, intercompany transactions, and other accounting activities.
Ensure compliance with US GAAP, local statutory accounting requirements, and corporate accounting policies, identifying and assessing differences between local and corporate reporting standards and supporting implementation of new accounting standards and regulatory requirements.
Coordinate tax compliance, statutory reporting, and tax accounting activities with outsourced providers, internal Finance teams, and local specialists, ensuring completeness, accuracy, consistency, and alignment with business operations.
Maintain a strong internal control environment by supporting SOX compliance, monitoring key controls, addressing audit findings, remediating process gaps, and ensuring ongoing audit readiness across the region.
Lead, coach, and develop a team of accountants across the region while partnering with internal stakeholders, cross-functional teams, external auditors, tax advisors, and service providers to support operational excellence, compliance, and continuous improvement.
Collaborate closely with Tax, FP&A, Commercial, Supply Chain, Legal, Treasury, HR, IT, and Global Finance teams to support business initiatives, financial reporting, compliance requirements, and strategic decision-making.
Drive finance transformation initiatives, including SAP S/4HANA implementation, process harmonization, automation opportunities, reporting enhancements, and continuous improvement projects across accounting and tax processes.
Support internal and external audits, regulatory inspections, compliance reviews, and special projects as required.
Skills and Experience
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
Strong knowledge of US GAAP, financial reporting, local statutory accounting requirements, and accounting close processes.
Advanced SAP knowledge; experience with SAP S/4HANA implementations or finance transformation projects is highly desirable.
Strong understanding of direct and indirect taxes across Latin America, particularly Brazil, Colombia, and Chile.
Demonstrated experience leading, coaching, developing, and mentoring accounting professionals within a multinational environment.
Experience managing end-to-end financial close processes, corporate reporting requirements, balance sheet reviews, and financial statement preparation.
Experience supporting SOX compliance, internal controls, audit readiness, and remediation of control or process deficiencies.
Experience coordinating external audits and working directly with auditors, tax advisors, and outsourced service providers.
Active Brazilian CRC registration is desirable.
Fluent English is required. Portuguese and Spanish are desirable.
Postgraduate qualification in Accounting, Finance, Tax, or related disciplines is desirable.
Experience with OneStream, Hyperion, or similar consolidation and reporting tools is desirable.
Experience supporting accounting and tax activities across multiple Latin American countries is highly desirable.
