Job DetailsJob Location: G5 Infrared LLC - Hudson, NH 03051Position Type: Full TimeTravel Percentage: NoneJob Shift: First ShiftJob Category: DesignThe Quality & Optical Coating Technician is responsible for preparing optical components for coating operations, supporting vacuum coating processes, performing visual and dimensional inspections, packaging precision optical components, and maintaining coating equipment and clean work areas. This position plays a key role in ensuring optical products meet LightPath's quality standards while supporting production schedules in a clean manufacturing environment.

Responsibilities

Optical Coating Support

Clean, wash, and prepare optical components for coating using approved procedures.
Load and unload optics from coating fixtures and tooling.
Package and unpackage delicate optical components while preventing contamination or damage.
Apply labels and maintain product identification throughout the manufacturing process.
Assist operators with vacuum coating chamber setup and teardown.
Assist with routine coating chamber cleaning and preventive maintenance.
Clean and organize coating fixtures, tooling, and production equipment.
Maintain cleanroom and contamination control practices.

Quality Inspection

Perform visual inspection of coated and uncoated optical components.
Inspect products for scratches, digs, chips, coating defects, contamination, and cosmetic imperfections.
Assist Quality Control during periods of high production demand.
Verify product identification and work order documentation.
Document inspection results accurately.
Report quality concerns to supervisors or quality personnel.
Follow inspection procedures and acceptance criteria.

Production Support

Support production schedules while maintaining quality standards.
Handle precision optical components with appropriate care.
Maintain organized work areas using 5S principles.
Follow all work instructions, standard operating procedures, and safety requirements.
Participate in continuous improvement initiatives.
Assist other manufacturing departments as needed.

Qualifications
High school diploma or GED required.
Technical training or manufacturing certification preferred.

1–3 years of manufacturing, optics, cleanroom, or quality inspection experience preferred.
Experience handling precision components is a plus.
Experience in optical coating or photonics manufacturing is preferred but not required.
