The Opportunity:
As Senior Manager, Marketing & Communications, you will help shape how Liberty Mutual Canada shows up for our employees, customers, business partners and communities. You will lead integrated marketing and communications strategies that strengthen our brand, support business priorities, enable employee engagement and bring our strategy to life.
This is a highly collaborative and visible leadership role. You will serve as a trusted advisor to business leaders, connect enterprise and business-unit priorities, and translate complex ideas into clear, compelling communications and experiences that inspire action.
Duties & Responsibilities:
- Champion and model Liberty Values and our Guidelines for Inclusion, fostering a market-leading culture and an environment where employees feel informed, connected, valued and empowered to contribute.
- Lead, coach and develop marketing and communications talent, creating opportunities for growth and encouraging innovation.
- Develop and execute integrated, multi-channel marketing and communications strategies that support short- and long-term business objectives. Initiatives may include employee and executive communications, internal campaigns, advertising, sales enablement, public relations, digital content, social media, company meetings and events, and other stakeholder engagement programs.
- Serve as a strategic communications advisor to business-unit leaders and senior stakeholders, helping them clarify objectives, anticipate communication needs, navigate complex issues and connect their priorities to broader company strategy.
- Partner with North American and global colleagues to ensure local strategies and content are aligned with enterprise messaging, brand standards and communication priorities, while tailoring the approach to the needs of specific audiences and markets.
- Translate business strategy and complex topics into clear, relevant and compelling stories that resonate with employees, customers, distribution partners, executives and other external audiences.
- Strengthen and consistently express the Liberty Mutual brand across internal and external communications, publications, digital experiences, events and other audience touchpoints.
- Lead the creative development and production of high-impact content and materials, including graphic design, copywriting, video, presentations, digital content and other assets, ensuring they meet brand, accessibility, quality and business requirements.
- Lead agency and vendor partnerships supporting promotional campaigns and strategic communications initiatives. Oversee the development of concepts, media strategies, content, production plans and delivery against agreed objectives.
- Own and evolve key marketing and communications channels, which may include internal websites, newsletters, corporate web properties, social media and other digital platforms. Drive channel adoption, improve the audience experience and use insights to increase reach, engagement and desired outcomes.
- Establish meaningful measures of success and use data, analytics, audience insights and feedback to evaluate effectiveness, demonstrate business value and continuously improve programs.
- Lead the responsible and strategic adoption of artificial intelligence across marketing and communications, identifying opportunities to enhance audience insights, content development, personalization, channel performance and team productivity while ensuring appropriate human oversight and alignment with company policies, privacy, risk, inclusion and brand standards.
- Monitor industry trends, emerging issues, evolving technologies and leading practices to identify new opportunities and ensure Liberty Mutual’s marketing and communications approach remains innovative, relevant and effective.
- Lead complex, cross-functional projects and strategic initiatives from concept through execution, ensuring delivery within approved budgets, timelines, quality standards and risk parameters.
Skills & Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in marketing, communications, public relations, journalism, business or a related field.
- Significant experience leading integrated marketing and communications strategies in a complex, matrixed organization.
- Proven ability to advise senior leaders, influence stakeholders and translate business priorities into clear, compelling communications.
- Experience leading and developing talent, managing cross-functional teams and working with agencies and vendors.
- Strong expertise across multiple channels, including digital, web, social media, employee communications, executive communications, events and public relations.
- AI-forward mindset: Brings practical experience using generative AI and emerging technologies to improve research, content development, personalization, analytics, channel effectiveness and team productivity. Understands the importance of human judgment, accuracy, privacy, inclusion, transparency and responsible governance when applying AI in a highly regulated environment.
- Excellent writing, editing, presentation and storytelling skills.
- Strong project, budget, measurement and prioritization skills.
- A data-informed approach to evaluating impact and improving audience engagement.
- Ability to work effectively across North American and global teams.
- A collaborative, inclusive leadership style aligned with Liberty Mutual’s values.
Assets include experience in insurance or financial services, change communications, employee engagement, reputation management, crisis communications, B2B marketing, sales enablement, bilingualism in English and French, and marketing technology.

This posting is for an active, current vacancy.
Target Hiring Range:
CAD $130,000 – $170,000 per year (base salary).
This range represents the expected annual base salary for this role, however, offers above the published maximum may be approved with appropriate business authorization. Final offers will be determined based on each candidate’s qualifications, relevant experience, internal equity, and the needs of the role. The posted range does not include variable compensation (bonus), allowances, or benefits. We encourage all qualified candidates to apply.
