Job Summary:
The General Manager is the leader of a site responsible for the overall direction and performance of tire collection, processing, and manufacturing operations. This includes overall management of all aspects of tire collection - coordinating routes, personnel, asset utilization, and customer service - along with grading, processing, maintenance, and inventory. The General Manager ensures site safety, environmental compliance, and operational efficiency. This role is accountable for P&L management, driving financial performance by surpassing financial targets, controlling costs, and enhancing productivity. The General Manager is responsible for building and leading a high-performing team, implementing continuous improvement initiatives, and supporting sales and customer relations activities. This role also plays a critical hands-on leadership function, providing daily supervision, interaction, and direction for all employees at the site.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Manage site operations in a safe, environmentally compliant, and effective manner
- Create a culture that maximizes performance and equips employees for success
- Manage workforce by ensuring proper staffing levels, developing people, and directing resources to attain key safety, financial, and operations goals
- Lead by example and spend the required amount of time in each functional area to drive results
- Full ownership of Profit and Loss (P&L) performance.
- Learn and utilize Liberty’s financial systems and reporting tools, which enable detailed tracking and management of revenue and costs across all areas of the operation.
- Surpass financial targets by controlling production costs, enhancing productivity, and driving revenue growth.
- Analyze financial reports to identify trends, manage budget allocations, and make data-driven decisions to optimize financial outcomes.
- Proactively communicate with leadership about site performance and situations that may impact the achievement of budget or operational priorities
- Identify and drive continuous improvement initiatives in safety, finance, productivity, quality, inventory, and logistics
- Communicate key developments, lessons learned, and challenges colleagues to facilitate best practice sharing
- Oversee the implementation of an effective preventative maintenance program to ensure manufacturing equipment meets quality and productivity targets.
- Assist the Regional Vice-President with sales, potential partnerships, and customer relations/retention activities
- Ensure that standardized work practices are implemented daily, including SOPs and housekeeping checklists
- Maintain buildings, facilities, and grounds in a method consistent with company standards
- Manage feedstock, end-product inventory, and outbound logistics.
Required Skills/Abilities:
- Proven ability to build and lead high-performing teams in a dynamic environment.
- Strong interpersonal, leadership, and communication skills.
- Business acumen with experience in leading changes and achieving safety and business objectives.
- Strong P&L Management experience
- Working knowledge of all facets of manufacturing including safety, production, quality, finance, continuous improvement, team building, employee relations, customer service, purchasing and distribution
Experience:
- At least five years of leadership experience in manufacturing, covering safety, logistics, production, quality, financial, and employee leadership
- Bachelor’s degree in business, supply chain or another related field or a combination of education and experience in a related field, preferred
