Job Summary:

The Senior Accountant serves as a key financial partner, working closely with the Regional Controller and collaborating with regional and site leadership teams to ensure accurate financial reporting, support operational decision-making, and drive financial performance. This position is responsible for managing general ledger activities, supporting the month-end close process, performing account reconciliations, preparing financial analyses, and ensuring compliance with accounting standards and company policies.

Job Responsibilities

  • Lead month-end and year-end close activities, ensuring timely and accurate financial reporting
  • Prepare, review, and post journal entries, accruals, and account adjustments
  • Perform balance sheet reconciliations and investigate and resolve discrepancies
  • Maintain the integrity of the general ledger and ensure compliance with accounting principles and company policies
  • Compile, analyze, and interpret financial data to support business operations and management decision-making
  • Prepare and review financial statements, management reports, and ad hoc analyses
  • Support budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis processes
  • Assist with consolidation and intercompany accounting activities
  • Partner with operational and regional leadership to provide financial insights and recommendations
  • Support annual audits and provide required documentation to external auditors
  • Ensure compliance with internal controls, accounting regulations, and corporate policies
  • Utilize Sage 500 ERP and other financial systems to manage accounting and reporting functions
  • Identify opportunities to improve accounting processes, reporting efficiency, and financial controls

Skills and Abilities

  • Strong knowledge of GAAP and general accounting principles
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including data analysis and reporting
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and critical-thinking skills
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment
  • Excellent attention to detail and commitment to accuracy
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams and leadership
  • Experience with ERP systems and financial reporting tools
  • Self-motivated with a proactive and results-oriented approach
  • Ability to analyze financial trends and provide recommendations to support business objectives
  • Demonstrated commitment to continuous learning and professional development

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field required
  • 3-5 years of progressive accounting experience required
  • Strong experience in general ledger accounting, financial reporting, month-end close, and account reconciliations
  • Experience within manufacturing, industrial, recycling, logistics, or supply chain environments preferred
  • Experience working with ERP systems required; Sage 500 experience preferred
  • Power Query, Power Pivot, and Power BI experience preferred
  • CPA designation or progress toward certification is a plus
