Enterprise Strategy & Innovation (ES&I) is a corporate organization that reports directly into Liberty Mutual’s Executive Leadership Team within Liberty Mutual Insurance, a Fortune 100 company with 40,000 employees in 900 offices worldwide.
The function is comprised of five interrelated verticals: Liberty’s award winning in-house enterprise strategy / strategy consulting arm (Corporate Strategy & Research), a strategic alignment group (LMG Alignment), a global innovation incubator (Solaria Labs), an enterprise venture capital group (Liberty Mutual Strategic Ventures) that invests in early-stage startups to glean critical insights on emerging disruptive trends, and a dedicated business operations team (ES&I Operations) that orchestrates the overall operating model of the ES&I function driving strategic priority setting, cross-teams alignment, business operational effectiveness, financial & performance management, and supporting culture & team engagement initiatives.
ES&I Operations is currently searching for a Senior Business Analyst or Project Manager I to support the day-to-day business operations of our Corporate Strategy & Research (CS&R) group including management of key vendor relationships, leading the planning & execution of department meetings, targeted metrics reporting including overall performance scorecard, crystalizing insights into executive-level PowerPoint presentations and dashboards, and team culture building initiatives. This is an individual contributor role.

Responsibilities
- Synthesize, monitor, and report on results of an annual, holistic CS&R Performance Scorecard with success metrics aligned with the overall purpose of the function and the strategic priorities of the company
- Lead the planning and execution of CS&R monthly department meetings to promote a culture of knowledge sharing, ensuring work alignment & transparency, and building a more unified and connected team
- Run standard and ad hoc department level metrics reporting related to talent portfolio mix, budget analyses, and consulting project work; storyboard and craft compelling presentations using standard tools (PowerPoint, Excel) and summary dashboards using Gen AI (Claude, GPT) shared with CS&R leadership team and/or ES&I leadership, as requested
- Serve as the business operational liaison across our CS&R internal pillars supporting across Talent Attraction, Talent Development, Consulting Best Practices, Feedback & Performance, and Culture & Engagement (“C&E”) initiatives; serve as a standing team member of the C&E Pillar in a leadership capacity in advancing & orchestrating meaningful opportunities to drive employee engagement, culture of collaboration, and fostering team unity
- Manage day-to-day CS&R vendor relationships & subscriptions; research & recommend new vendors for the group or vendors to de-commission; support contract negotiations. Own overall day-to-day enterprise-wide relationships with two industry leading consulting expert networks
- Drive focus and discipline on expense management by supporting annual ES&I budget / planning process, serve as CS&R escalation path for expense inquiries, and coordinate timely CS&R payments (Ariba, Wire)
- Drive operational excellence, with a focus on productivity, effectiveness, and continuous improvement opportunities within CS&R by serving as point of contact / escalation path for all technology & tools matters including administration (e.g., SharePoint, Teams, Gen AI access); ensure full execution of consulting project teams onboarding & offboarding process including knowledge management
- Act as a trusted counterpart and sounding board to the VP & Head of Operations, Enterprise Strategy & Innovation
- Independently lead special projects of varying scope and complexity as assigned and as needed; historical examples include quarterbacking an industry award submission which resulted in winning an eminence-building recognition, counseling other departments on operational best practices upon request, etc.
The actual internal level/grade for this role will depend on the candidate’s overall experience and skill level
- Senior Business Analyst: $107,500- $138,000. Annual FTO days (Flexible Time Off): 20
- Project Manager I: $120,000 - $150,000. Annual FTO days (Flexible Time Off): 20
- Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration or other business-related field required with a demonstrated record of academic success; MBA a plus (or Master’s degree in a business-related field)
- Progressive experience in a business operational and/or similar environment with exposure to relevant areas such as external vendor management, metrics reporting, and project planning & coordination
- Strong interpersonal skills, written and oral communication; proven ability to storyboard and craft compelling presentations to various audiences
- Client-serving or business operations enabling background a plus
- Natural curiosity and acumen with new business enabling tools (e.g., Gen AI such as Claude and GPT) & technology trends and application to team based, business setting
- Proven negotiation skills and ability to influence others; analytical and problem-solving mindset
- Ability to grasp new concepts and adapt to changes and demands in a fast-paced and dynamic environment; proven ability to fulfill ad hoc requests and produce deliverables on time and with high quality
- Senior Business Analyst: Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in addition to 5+ years of relevant experience to include business analysis work.
- Project Manager I: Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in addition to 6+ years of relevant experience to include business analysis work.
Pay Philosophy: The typical starting salary range for this role is determined by a number of factors including skills, experience, education, certifications and location. The full salary range for this role reflects the competitive labor market value for all employees in these positions across the national market and provides an opportunity to progress as employees grow and develop within the role. Some roles at Liberty Mutual have a corresponding compensation plan which may include commission and/or bonus earnings at rates that vary based on multiple factors set forth in the compensation plan for the role.
