Job Description

This is a fixed term contract for 6 months

Job Profile

To provide and be responsible for sourcing chemicals, selected consumables and negotiating pricing from suppliers in the most economical way, whilst meeting our technical requirements. To ensure chemicals are available for re-sale and for manufacturing items in a timely manner.

Key Responsibilities

Source & Negotiate for Chemicals & Selected Consumables

  • Source and negotiate chemicals for re-sale, inventory, starting material / raw material, and for ongoing projects in the most cost-effective way based on price, quality, and lead-time
  • Source and negotiate selected consumables
  • Research and identify potential vendors for chemicals required
  • Work with Procurement Administrator to ensure accuracy and timely creation of PO’s

Monitor Supplier Performance

  • Work with suppliers to improve the safety of chemical delivered to our facility
  • Manage evaluation and selection of the suppliers
  • Communicate with the suppliers regarding reasons for rejection, and re-purchase or re-source products when necessary
  • Reinforce RC commitment for safe chemical transport via IATA (International Air Transport Association), including but not limited to, correct name of chemical, declarations, packing, etc.

Monitor Inventory Levels of Re-Sale Items

  • Analyze inventory level status reports (including purchase for re-sale) to ensure inventory is not depleted and replenished in a timely manner
  • Assess history and trends in decision-making process for above, reviewing inventory levels of backordered and lower stock items

Support and drive Continuous Improvement (CI)

  • Identify improvement opportunities and participate in establishing the department’s performance metrics and CI programs
  • Prepare and update assigned department SOPs, Work Instructions, and Task Instructions

Work Safely

  • Abide by health and safety guidelines prescribed by governing bodies and the TRC Environmental Health and Safety Committee.

Perform Other Duties

  • Working with finance on resolving invoice discrepancies
  • Working with Project Management in RFQs for construction and equipment related projects
  • Perform other duties and complete additional projects as assigned

Qualifications

Education Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry, with knowledge of chemical structures and terminology preferred

Competencies Required

  • 3-5 years of experience in chemical procurement preferred
  • Excellent interpersonal, verbal communication, and time management skills
  • Task oriented self-starter that takes initiative to get things done
  • Creativity and problem-solving skills
  • Negotiation skills
  • Planning and organizing
  • Detail orientated
  • Reliable and trustworthy with a good work ethic
  • Works well within stipulated timelines and able to meet deadlines
  • Previous experience with FileMaker, ERP is an asset

Additional Information

Pay range for this role is:

Minimum: CAD $50,000 / yearly

Maximum: CAD $60,000 / yearly

The salary range provided covers the minimum and maximum amounts projected for this role. The base salary will be influenced by factors like experience, skills, and location.
