Job Description

Do you seek to make an impact in the world of analytical chemistry? We have an exciting opportunity for a highly motivated, proactive Analytical Chemist to join our Sports Anti-Doping team!

Based in Fordham, Cambridgeshire  you will be part of our team, you will engage in innovative high-quality analytical chemistry service to leading national and international animal sports regulatory organisations, including horseracing, greyhound racing and veterinary pre-purchase schemes. This includes:

  • Performing extraction techniques – Solid phase extraction, liquid/liquid and automated liquid handling.
  • Using high-spec analytical instrumentation for chromatography and mass spectrometry – GC-MS/MS, LC-MS/MS and HRAM.
  • Data analysis and review using TraceFinder and MassHunter applications.
  • Strictly adhering to protocols within an ISO17025 accredited laboratory.
  • Attendance at regulatory positive case hearings may be an occasional requirement.
  • We’re looking for a teammate who works flexibly, shows initiative, and brings forward new ideas.  You’re hardworking with a positive attitude, manage your time efficiently, and ensure tasks are completed on schedule and to a high standard. 

This role is well suited to a recent graduate or someone in their first or second industry role, with training and support provided.

Qualifications

  • Minimum of BSc in Chemistry-related discipline (or equivalent experience) – graduates are welcome to apply.
  • Experience with LC-MS and GC-MS techniques is desirable.
  • Experience with high-resolution accurate mass (HRAM) is desirable.
  • Familiarity with ISO 17025/GLP standards is desirable.
  • Experience of working in an analytical laboratory would be advantageous
