About this role

Leidos is seeking a Principal Transmission Line Engineer to work part-time (29hours or less) who will be a leader of a dynamic team working in a fast-paced environment, solving challenging problems for electric transmission line design projects. The successful candidate must have a strong educational background in the design of electric transmission design projects for high-voltage (HV) and extra high-voltage (EHV) overhead and underground electric utility lines. He/she will apply NESC, ASCE and other applicable standards in the engineering and design of electric transmission projects, including new capacity projects as well as infrastructure replacement projects. Candidate will primarily function in a principal engineering role performing design reviews on a regular basis, developing junior staff members, and contributing to bids and proposal development. Site-visits to client substation facilities are expected to be part of the work, along with occasional travel for client meetings and industry related events. Experience in front-facing client operations such as lunch and learns, and kick-off meetings if preferred. Candidate must comply with quality control and safe work practices and maintain compliance with project scope, schedule, and budget expectations. This position will be a principal role in a growing design team comprised of engineers, designers, and drafting technicians.

Required Education & Experience:
• 12+ years of relevant experience in the design of electric utility transmission systems
• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical or Civil Engineering
• P.E. License
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Experience with the following:

  • PLS-CADD, POLE, and TOWER
  • SAG10
  • LPILE or FAD
  • Microsoft Office suite
  • Willingness to travel, up to 10%

Desired Skills and Attributes:

  • Master’s degree in Civil Engineering
  • Project Management Professional certification
    • Knowledge of NESC code requirements, construction cost estimating, specification, material procurement processes, project schedule creation, and construction work packages.

Pay Range:

Pay Range $116,350.00 - $210,325.00
