We are hiring an upbeat, dedicated, and skilled technical leader with utility engineering design experience to manage a team in a fast-paced, high-output work environment. As Supervisor, Engineering Support, you will lead a team responsible for developing detailed transmission facility scopes aimed at improving LCRA Transmission Services Corporation’s system. You will also help enable the interconnection of a diverse and increasing mix of resources and loads to the ERCOT grid. Your responsibilities include providing leadership and mentorship, prioritizing team activities, ensuring quality assurance, and maintaining effective relationships with multiple project collaborators. The ideal candidate will bring substation design experience, a track record of managing multiple projects at once, a dedication to excellence, and a commitment to LCRA’s values of service, initiative, respect, integrity, and safety.


How You’ll Contribute

  • Create and promote a culture built upon the values of safety, integrity, respect, initiative, and service within the team. 
  • Deliver leadership and management for staff. Charged with direct supervision by establishing targets, recruiting, handling performance evaluations, coaching, counseling, mentoring, and facilitating chances for advancement for all staff. 
  • Maintain awareness of department issues and respond to employee needs and concerns. Communicate with employees to ensure accurate and timely dissemination of information. 
  • Plan, schedule, and assign project tasks and work to the team; monitor progress and interpret results to ensure timely completion of assignments to support the project schedule. 
  • Provide leadership for complex projects and/or studies; may be the resident specialist in a particular field or operations area. 
  • Deliver quality assurance and quality control management for the team's work. Ensure engineering documents, drawings, and work are detailed and accurate, and uploaded, classified, and maintained suitably within record systems. 

How You’re Qualified

  • Nine or more years of experience in transmission operations, maintenance, planning, engineering, technology, or other relevant experience.
  • A degree(s) in math, computer science, engineering, or related field may be substituted per LCRA guidelines for certain years of experience.
  • Driver's license

How You’ll Stand Out

  • At least 5 years of post-graduate direct experience in the public utility industry, particularly 765kV, 345kV, and 138kV substation design. 
  • Supervisory, managerial, or project management experience. 
  • Advanced skill in analyzing and solving complex problems, with intermediate skill level in data analytic and workflow skills in tools like MS excel, Share Point, Asana, Jira, or similar. 
  • Highly proficient in developing and interpreting diagrams, schematics, and drawings along with experience using Engineering Drawing Management Systems and CAD applications. 
  • Skill in articulating complex, technical information to both technical and non-technical audiences. 
  • Knowledge of applicable engineering principles, laws, standards, codes, and documentation specific to the area of engineering specialization required to perform the job.
