Position Overview
The primary responsibility of the Paralegal – Corporate & Information Governance (IG) is to provide general legal support to assigned attorneys in the areas of Equity Plan and Corporate Affairs, Global Information Governance, and Litigation, as well as in researching/analyzing legal issues and overseeing various processes and designated tasks in such areas.
All duties are to be performed in accordance with departmental and Las Vegas Sands Corp.’s policies, practices, and procedures. All Las Vegas Sands Corp. Team Members are expected to conduct and carry themselves in a professional manner at all times. Team Members are required to observe the Company’s standards, work requirements and rules of conduct.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
Manage IG Annual Review process for all departments within the Company.
Assist with the preparation and posting of materials for the Company’s Board of Directors (“BOD”) and its and Committees.
Assist with coordinating logistics of key BOD processes (meetings, payment, etc.) and execution and filing of key documents, including minutes and consents.
Assist with litigation and alternative dispute resolution matters including document preparation and drafting related to discovery, collection of documents and electronic document review and analysis.
Support the organization, maintenance, and dissolution of Company’s U.S. subsidiaries.
Maintain corporate records for the Company’s global subsidiaries, including maintenance of entity management databases in Company’s entity management databases.
Support internal audits of the Information Governance program and assist with remediation efforts.
Assist with implementation and maintenance of the broader Information Governance program.
Conduct research of statutes, codes, rules, regulations, case law, and a variety of other legal issues.
Provide support and assistance with general administrative tasks for VPs in the Company’s Legal department.
Other responsibilities will include typing letters, memos, presentations, answering phones, and filing.
Assist with the handling of special projects and administrative matters for the Legal department.
Perform job duties in a safe manner.
Attend work as scheduled on a consistent and regular basis.
Perform other related duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
At least 21 years of age.
Proof of authorization to work in the United States.
High School Diploma or equivalent.
Bachelor's degree in related area preferred or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Must be able to obtain and maintain any certification or license, as required by law or policy.
Paralegal certification preferred.
5 years of relevant experience in a corporate environment or a law firm.
Demonstrated experience resolving routine legal issues, under the direction of an attorney.
Proficiency in researching and analyzing law sources such as statutes, recorded judicial decisions, legal articles, treaties, constitutions, and legal codes to prepare legal documents, such as briefs, pleadings, appeals, contracts, etc.
Familiar with a variety of legal concepts, practices, and procedures.
Must also possess strong organizational skills and excellent attention to detail.
Possess excellent working knowledge of Microsoft applications.
Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate effectively and interact appropriately with management, other Team Members and outside contacts of different backgrounds and levels of experience.
Physical Requirements
Must be able to:
Lift or carry 10 pounds, unassisted, in the performance of specific tasks, as assigned.
Physically access assigned workspace areas with or without reasonable accommodation.
Work remotely as necessary.
Work indoors and be exposed to various environmental factors such as, but not limited to, CRT, noise, and dust.
Utilize laptop and standard keyboard to perform essential functions of the job.
