Retail Clerk – 66 Pit Stop (Non-Exempt)
The Retail Clerk is responsible for providing exceptional customer service while ensuring the safe, clean, and efficient operation of the 66 Pit Stop convenience store. This position greets customers, processes sales using a point-of-sale system, scans merchandise, handles cash and other forms of payment, stocks and rotates products, and maintains a welcoming environment for guests. Retail Clerks communicate promotions and specials, assist customers in locating items, sell lottery and tobacco products while verifying customer age, and promote store products to increase sales. Employees are expected to build positive relationships with guests through friendly, professional interactions and provide accurate information regarding services, amenities, promotions, and special events. The position requires adherence to Laguna Development Corporation’s Core Values, policies, and procedures, while maintaining a positive, respectful attitude toward customers and coworkers and consistently reporting to work on time and prepared to perform assigned duties, including weekends, holidays, and other nontraditional hours as needed.
The Retail Clerk also performs a variety of operational and custodial duties, including maintaining beverage and condiment stations, brewing coffee, cleaning dining and service areas, restrooms, windows, gas and diesel pumps, and parking lots, as well as stocking and organizing merchandise displays. Additional responsibilities include balancing cash drawers, documenting discrepancies, assisting with training new clerks, complying with all health and safety regulations, and supporting a collaborative team environment. Candidates must possess a High School Diploma or GED, be at least 18 years of age, and demonstrate basic arithmetic and computer skills; cashiering, custodial, and related retail experience are preferred. The position requires frequent standing, walking, bending, kneeling, reaching, and repetitive hand movements, as well as the ability to lift, carry, push, pull, and transfer up to 50 pounds. Work is performed primarily indoors with exposure to cigarette smoke and fuel fumes. Successful candidates must pass a pre-employment drug and alcohol screening, background check, and obtain and maintain ServSafe Certification. This position does not have supervisory responsibilities but requires professionalism, teamwork, adaptability, and a strong commitment to customer satisfaction.
