Description
The Kentucky Department of Education is a service agency of the Commonwealth of Kentucky, and part of the
Education and Labor Cabinet. The department provides resources and guidance to Kentucky’s public schools and
districts as they implement the state’s P-12 education requirements. The department also serves as the state
liaison for federal education requirements and funding opportunities.
The department is led by an appointed commissioner of education, who is hired by and answers to the 11-member Kentucky Board of Education. Offices are administered by associate commissioners, and divisions within those offices are administered by division directors.
The department employs approximately 425 Frankfort-based workers; 175 employees in support of the Kentucky School for the Blind (Jefferson County) and Kentucky School for the Deaf (Boyle County); and about 518 employees at the 50 Area Technology Centers across the state.

This position serves Jefferson county and surrounding areas.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:
- Under general direction, provides consultative services, technical assistance, and training to local school district personnel and other state and, or, private educational agencies, residential childcare institutions, childcare centers, family day care homes, and summer food service program sponsors in the development, coordination, implementation, and monitoring of their nutrition programs.
- Provide training and technical assistance to Child Nutrition Program Sponsors (for profit, nonprofit, adult day care, and family day care home sponsors) reflecting the objectives of training, and compliance monitoring the KDE has agreed to provide for sponsors of the Summer Food Service Program (SFSP).
- Participate in the development and delivery of annual and periodic training and technical assistance to the Child and Adult Care Food Program (CACFP).
- Conduct compliance monitoring, make recommendations and write reports of sponsors of the CACFP.
- Conduct second party reviews of reviews submitted by staff.
- Issue reports.
- Responsible for oversight of accurate submission of responses as well as closeout of reviews.
- Maintain database for sponsor reviews.
- Evaluate and approve applications for program participation, adding the same to database. Participate in the annual and periodic process of reviewing applications for program participation.
- Participate in unscheduled "special request" monitoring or training and technical assistance as requested by program, sponsors or department.
- Performs other duties as assigned.

Minimum Requirements
EDUCATION:
Graduate of a college or university with a bachelor's degree in education, education administration, food service administration, nutrition, home economics or a related field.
EXPERIENCE, TRAINING, OR SKILLS:
Five years of professional experience in education administration, vocational education, food service administration, business administration, nutrition education, social work, family therapy, and/or financial auditing/monitoring or a related field.
Substitute EDUCATION for EXPERIENCE:
A master's degree OR current certification as a Registered Dietician will substitute for two years of the required experience.
Substitute EXPERIENCE for EDUCATION:
Current Rank II or Rank I certification by the Department of Education or Education Professional Standards Board will substitute for the required education OR additional professional experience in education administration, vocational education, food service administration, business administration, nutrition education, social work, family therapy, and/or financial auditing/monitoring or a related field will substitute for the required education on a year-for-year basis.

Work is typically performed in an office or school setting. Travel is typically required.
