Kilnbridge Fire Protection

The Role

We're looking for an experienced and solutions-focused Technical Manager to join Kilnbridge Fire Protection.

This is a pivotal position within the business, providing technical leadership and assurance across our passive fire protection projects from tender stage through to project completion. You'll work closely with Preconstruction, Commercial and Operations teams, ensuring that technical solutions are compliant, buildable, commercially viable and aligned with the latest industry regulations and standards.

As a trusted technical specialist, you'll play a key role in maintaining quality, managing technical risk, supporting project delivery and helping to strengthen our technical capability across the business. This is an excellent opportunity for a passive fire protection professional who enjoys solving complex problems, influencing stakeholders and making a tangible impact on project success.

About Kilnbridge

Kilnbridge is the UK’s leading structures specialist, delivering some of the country’s most complex and iconic engineering, construction and infrastructure projects. As an employee-owned business, our people are at the heart of everything we do - empowered to contribute, innovate and help shape our continued success.

If you want to develop your expertise, contribute to technically challenging projects and be part of a collaborative team, we'd love to hear from you.

What you'll do

  • Provide technical support and guidance across Preconstruction, Commercial and Operations teams to ensure compliant and effective passive fire protection solutions.

  • Review drawings, specifications, fire strategies and technical documentation to identify project requirements and compliance obligations.

  • Support the selection of compliant, buildable and commercially appropriate fire protection systems.

  • Review technical submissions, compliance records, submittals and supporting evidence for projects.

  • Identify, manage and escalate technical, compliance and design risks where required.

  • Work closely with manufacturers, suppliers and specialist subcontractors to obtain technical information, approvals and warranties.

  • Support technical audits, inspections, quality reviews and project close-out activities.

  • Assist project teams with resolving technical queries, RFIs, non-conformances and site-based challenges.

  • Attend client meetings, design workshops and site visits, providing expert technical input and recommendations.

  • Champion the principles of the Building Safety Act and the "golden thread" by ensuring robust technical records and decision-making processes are maintained.

  • Support, mentor and develop junior technical team members, BIM technicians and project staff.

  • Contribute to continuous improvement, standardisation and technical excellence across the business.

What you'll need

  • A degree, HNC/HND or equivalent experience in Engineering, Construction, Fire Safety or a related discipline.

  • Strong experience within passive fire protection, fire-related construction, technical management, design coordination, project management or installation management.

  • A solid understanding of passive fire protection systems, installation methods and manufacturer requirements.

  • Knowledge of FIRAS requirements, Building Regulations, the Building Safety Act and relevant industry standards.

  • Experience reviewing specifications, drawings, fire strategies, technical submissions and compliance documentation.

  • Strong stakeholder management skills with the ability to communicate technical information clearly and confidently.

  • Excellent problem-solving skills and strong attention to detail.

  • Commercial awareness with an understanding of project risk, buildability and operational constraints.

  • Experience working with clients, consultants, manufacturers, suppliers, subcontractors and project delivery teams.

  • Proficiency in technical software, document control systems and drawing review processes.

  • IFE Level 3 Certificate in Passive Fire Protection, or a willingness to work towards achieving this qualification.

  • A full UK driving licence.

  • Alignment with Kilnbridge values: Responsibility, Integrity, Teamwork and Excellence.
