District Overview

Kiewit Power Constructors (KPC) provides direct-hire construction services for Power Generation utilizing a union craft force.  Kiewit Power Constructors builds major EPC power plant and solar projects throughout North America.

Responsibilities

  • Perform quality inspections of electrical and instrumentation installations throughout all phases of construction.
  • Verify work complies with project specifications, contract requirements, approved drawings, applicable codes, and industry standards.
  • Inspect installation of:
    • Cable tray systems
    • Conduit systems
    • Power and control wiring
    • Grounding and bonding systems
    • Instrument tubing and impulse lines
    • Junction boxes and instrument devices
    • Motor control centers (MCCs)
    • Switchgear and electrical equipment
    • Distributed Control Systems (DCS)
    • Control panels and associated components
  • Review inspection test plans (ITPs), quality procedures, and construction work packages.
  • Witness and document electrical testing activities including:
    • Continuity testing
    • Megger testing
    • Ground resistance testing
    • Loop checks
    • Functional testing
  • Verify calibration records and documentation for field instrumentation.
  • Generate quality surveillance reports, inspection reports, and deficiency notices.
  • Track and monitor nonconformance reports (NCRs) and corrective actions.
  • Maintain project quality records and turnover documentation.
  • Coordinate inspections with clients, third-party agencies, and project teams.
  • Participate in quality audits and project readiness assessments.
  • Support commissioning and startup activities as required.
  • Promote a culture of safety, quality, and continuous improvement.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Technical degree, electrical apprenticeship, or trade certification preferred.
  • Minimum 5+ years of experience in electrical or instrumentation construction, quality control, commissioning, or inspection.
  • Previous experience on power generation, industrial, oil & gas, petrochemical, or heavy construction projects preferred.
  • Strong understanding of electrical and instrumentation installation practices.
  • Ability to read and interpret:
    • Electrical schematics
    • One-line diagrams
    • Loop drawings
    • P&IDs
  • Wiring diagrams
  • Construction specifications
  • Strong organizational and documentation skills.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office applications.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced construction environment.
