Learn more about what we do.
Our award-winning culture embraces a bold vision of where technology can take us and a passion for tackling challenging problems with industry-first solutions. We believe that when people feel a sense of belonging, they can be more creative, innovative, and thrive at all points in their careers.
We are seeking a highly versatile Expert Application Engineer to support customer engagement and solution development across the Americas region. This role requires strong engineering fundamentals, curiosity, learning agility, customer-facing technical maturity, and the ability to reason through ambiguous problems. Broad exposure to electrical measurement technologies, automation, and software development is valuable, but the strongest candidate will be someone who can learn unfamiliar domains quickly and help architect practical solutions to complex customer challenges.
The successful candidate will serve as a technical leader and trusted problem-solving partner, working with sales, R&D, marketing, and customers to define, develop, demonstrate, and deploy integrated design and test solutions. The role is well suited for an engineer who is energized by cutting-edge problems where the requirements may be incomplete, the solution may not already exist, and success requires asking good questions, forming testable assumptions, and learning quickly. Experience supporting highly regulated industries such as medical devices, life sciences, or digital health is desirable, but not required if the candidate demonstrates the ability to ramp quickly in new technical and application domains.
Responsibilities
Customer Technical Leadership
- Act as the primary technical consultant supporting strategic opportunities across the Americas.
- Engage directly with customers to understand measurement challenges, manufacturing requirements, and emerging technology needs.
- Translate customer requirements into differentiated Keysight solutions and business value propositions.
- Lead technical discussions, executive briefings, workshops, proof-of-concepts, and solution demonstrations.
Solution Development & Innovation
- Design and develop integrated test solutions combining hardware, software, automation, and analytics.
- Create novel measurement methodologies and workflows leveraging Keysight instrumentation and software platforms.
- Drive solution development from concept through deployment and customer adoption.
- Identify market gaps and collaborate with product development teams to influence future product roadmaps.
Cross-Domain Learning & Technical Breadth
Provide technical leadership across customer problems that may involve a broad range of technologies. The candidate is not expected to be an expert in every area on day one, but should demonstrate strong fundamentals, curiosity, and the ability to learn, connect concepts, and apply adjacent-domain knowledge across areas such as:
- DC Parametric Testing
- Power Electronics and Power Integrity
- Data Acquisition and Instrument Control
- RF and Wireless Measurements
- High-Speed Digital Design and Validation
- Embedded Systems and Microcontrollers
- Automated Test Systems
- Manufacturing and Production Test
- Signal Integrity and Protocol Analysis
- Sensor and Mixed-Signal Validation
- Data Analytics and AI-Assisted Test Workflows
Software & Automation Development
- Develop applications, automation frameworks, and customer-specific workflows utilizing Python, C#, MATLAB, LabVIEW, SCPI, and Keysight software platforms.
- Integrate instrumentation into automated validation and production environments.
- Create reusable software assets that accelerate deployment across multiple customer engagements.
Thought Leadership
- Serve as a technical mentor to application engineers and technical sales teams.
- Represent Keysight at industry conferences, customer events, and technical forums.
- Publish application notes, technical papers, and training content to establish Keysight thought leadership.
Qualifications
Education
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or related technical discipline.
- Master's degree preferred.
Experience
- Typically 7+ years of relevant experience in test and measurement, electronics design, validation, manufacturing test, automation, systems integration, or solution development; candidates with less experience may be considered if they demonstrate exceptional learning velocity, technical maturity, and customer-facing problem-solving ability.
- Demonstrated success supporting customer-facing technical engagements, especially where requirements were incomplete, evolving, or required structured discovery.
- Proven ability to reason through complex technical problems, develop practical automated measurement solutions, and guide them from concept toward deployment.
Technical Skills and Learning Profile
Deep expertise in at least one measurement, automation, validation, or systems-integration domain is expected. Breadth across additional domains is valuable, but demonstrated ability to learn quickly, ask effective questions, reason from fundamentals, and connect technologies into complete solutions is more important than prior experience with every listed area:
- DC Measurement Techniques
- Oscilloscopes and Signal Analysis
- Source Measure Units (SMUs)
- Power Supplies and Electronic Loads
- RF Test and Measurement
- Vector Network Analysis
- Spectrum Analysis
- Wireless Communications Testing
- Digital Test and Debug
- Test Automation Frameworks
- Programming and Scripting
- Data Analytics and Visualization
Software Skills
Experience with one or more of:
- Python
- C#
- MATLAB
- LabVIEW
- C/C++
- TestStand
- Instrument Control Frameworks
- Cloud-Based Analytics Platforms
Preferred Qualifications
Digital Health Industry Experience
Highly desirable experience supporting:
- Medical device manufacturing and validation
- Wearable medical devices
- Continuous glucose monitoring systems
- Implantable medical devices
- Digital health platforms
- Design verification and validation testing
Additional Preferred Experience
- Industrial automation and robotics
- AI and machine learning applications in testing
- Advanced manufacturing analytics
Key Competencies
The ideal candidate should demonstrate the behaviors needed to operate successfully at the boundary of their current knowledge: intellectual curiosity, sound judgment under ambiguity, technical humility, composure under pressure, and the ability to learn interactively with customers and internal experts.
- Technical Leadership
- Innovation & Problem Solving
- Curiosity and Learning Agility
- Structured Reasoning Under Ambiguity
- Technical Humility and Intellectual Honesty
- Systems Thinking
- Customer Obsession
- Solution Architecture
- Business Acumen
- Executive Communication
