Keolis is seeking a reliable, community-focused Transit Driver to join our Mount Waddington Transit team in Port Hardy, BC.
This role is ideal for individuals who enjoy working independently, providing excellent customer service, and making a meaningful impact in their local community. Unlike traditional casual driving opportunities, this position offers regular scheduled hours and long-term employment stability.
For the right candidate, Keolis is also willing to consider sponsoring a qualified Class 5 driver to obtain their Class 4 unrestricted licence.
Compensation, Schedule & Training:
- Schedule: This is a part-time driver position requiring split shifts (ie 6-10 and 3-7). Shifts will be assigned based on operational needs and require strong flexibility for various shifts, including mornings, afternoons, evenings, Saturdays, and statutory holidays.
- Wage Structure:
- Introductory Rate (first 6 months): $23.81 per hour.
- After 7 months: $26.46 per hour.
- Training: Successful candidates will complete a paid training program at a rate of $23.40 per hour (typically 1-2 weeks).
- Union Affiliation: This position is part of the International Union of Operating Engineers (IUOE) - Local 882.
Knowledge and Experience:
- Valid Class 4 unrestricted driver’s license OR Valid Class 5 Driver's License with willingness to obtain a Class 4 License through company-supported training
- Clear driver's abstract.
- Clear criminal record and vulnerable sector check.
- Strong knowledge of the Mt. Waddington roadways.
- Physical ability to push/pull wheelchairs up and down a ramp or onto lift.

- Demonstrates a high level of professionalism, including commitment, patience, maturity, initiative, organization, punctuality, and reliability.
- Possesses excellent driving skills and habits, with the ability to operate vehicles safely in all-weather/road conditions.
- Exhibits strong communication, customer service, and conflict resolution skills, maintaining a calm, upbeat, and helpful manner.
- Capable of sound decision-making and problem-solving, particularly under stressful situations.
- Ability to work various shifts, including evenings, weekends, and statutory holidays.
Key Accountabilities:
Passenger Transportation:
- Transport passengers safely and according to established policy.
- Operate the vehicles in a safe manner in all-weather/road conditions.
- Provide information to and assist passengers in a courteous manner.
- Manage passenger behavior by quickly and effectively solving problems.
Vehicle Operations and Maintenance:
- Conduct pre-and-post trip checks of vehicles prior to/after their use.
- Report vehicle maintenance issues.
Communication and Reporting:
- Maintain radio contact with base and use proper communications protocol.
- Report passenger emergencies and schedule concerns.
- Complete various forms of paperwork, as required.
- Assist with driver coverage by driving the Transit
