Track Laborer
Rate of pay: This is a unionized position. The pay rates are non-negotiable. The starting pay rate for this position is $31.12
The purpose of this entry-level position is to provide maintenance and construction of the track and Right of Way (ROW) for the Track Department.
Knowledge and Skills
- Must be able to perform in a 24/7 transportation company with multiple shifts that may include weekend hours.
- Must be able to use basic hand tools, lift, bend, stoop and carry heavy loads.
- Construction-related experience preferred.
- Must be able to communicate successfully with a variety of disciplines and levels, both internal and external staff.
Experience
- Must have high school diploma, GED or equivalent educational credential.
- Trade and / or vocational training preferred.
- Requires 1-3 years manual labor experience.
- Must possess valid driver’s license. CDL and/or Hoisting License is preferred.
Key Accountabilities
- Demonstrate and adhere to the Keolis Commuter Services principals of Employee Engagement, Operational Excellence & Safety, Customer Satisfaction, Corporate Social Responsibility and Economic Performance.
- Construct, maintain, repair and inspect track and Right of Way and other duties as assigned on the MBTA Commuter Rail System.
- Involves working outside in all types of weather conditions year round, as assigned.
- Ability to work well with others as well as alone as required.
- Subject to call outside normal shift.
- Work snow duty as required.
- Comply with all related safety rules and procedures and report all hazards as required.
- Attend and participate in all assigned training, specifically safety and security related.
- Other duties as assigned during emergencies.
Other Requirements
Physical / Mental Demands:
- Work involves walking, talking and hearing, climbing, balancing, lifting (up to 60 pounds), bending and driving.
- Ability to perform all duties above.
Working Conditions:
- Noise Level – Loud
- Shift Work – May be required to work off shifts for special projects
- Travel – Daily travel to various Keolis Commuter Services sites
- On-call – As per collective agreement
- Team Work – Work as part of the Engineering team
