Responsibilities

We are seeking an experienced Roads Specialist to join our PMC team supporting the Abu Dhabi Ports PMC Framework. The successful candidate will;

  • Develop detailed scopes of work for road maintenance projects, covering preventive, corrective, and emergency maintenance activities, with clear technical requirements, timelines, and compliance standards.
  • Conduct regular site inspections to assess the condition of pavements, drainage systems, road signage, road markings, safety barriers, and other associated road infrastructure.
  • Identify defects, prepare inspection reports, recommend appropriate remedial actions, and prioritize maintenance works based on safety, operational impact, and asset condition.
  • Supervise and coordinate contractors carrying out road maintenance activities, monitor work progress, verify workmanship quality, and ensure timely completion in accordance with contractual requirements.
  • Ensure all maintenance works comply with approved method statements, project specifications, safety requirements, and relevant authority standards.
  • Review and provide technical comments on contractors' maintenance plans, schedules, material submissions, work permits, method statements, and other technical documentation.
  • Verify completed maintenance works and provide technical input to support the certification of contractor submissions and payment applications, where required.
  • Prepare daily, weekly, and monthly maintenance progress reports covering identified defects, completed works, outstanding actions, risks, and recommendations.
  • Coordinate with relevant authorities, stakeholders, facility management teams, and utility service providers to facilitate the smooth execution of road maintenance activities.
  • Support road asset condition assessments and contribute to maintenance planning, budgeting inputs, and lifecycle improvement recommendations.
  • Monitor road maintenance activities to ensure compliance with approved plans, specifications, quality standards, and health and safety requirements.
  • Perform any other road maintenance-related duties as assigned by Management.

Qualifications

To be successful in this dynamic opportunity, we envision that your career journey to date will include 5 years of work experience partnered with a Bachelor's or Masters degree in Civil Engineering with specialization in Roads Engineering or equivalent.

 

 

  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or a related engineering discipline.
  • Minimum 5 years of relevant experience in road maintenance, highway infrastructure, pavement works, or civil infrastructure maintenance projects.
  • Strong knowledge of road maintenance practices, pavement inspection, road asset condition assessment, and inspection procedures.
  • Experience in supervising and coordinating road maintenance contractors and reviewing technical submissions.
  • Good understanding of contract administration, road maintenance specifications, safety requirements, and relevant authority standards.
  • Strong written and spoken English is essential.
  • Knowledge of Arabic is advantageous.
  • Strong communication, coordination, reporting, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work effectively with contractors, consultants, authorities, utility providers, and other project stakeholders.
  • Experience working on large-scale infrastructure, highways, roads, ports, or government-related projects.
  • Experience within a PMC or consultancy environment is preferred.
  • Familiarity with road maintenance and infrastructure standards applicable in Abu Dhabi/UAE is advantageous.
