Pre-Construction Estimator (Major Projects) REMOTE
About this role
This is a remote position for US based candidates.
We are looking for a dynamic person to lead a crucial relationship between our Major Projects Team and our subcontractor base. As a Pre-Construction Low Voltage Electrical Estimator, you will be the main procurement contact for your assigned branch office partnering directly with our Major Projects Team to develop accurate installation cost models for our projects. You will lead the development of installation costing and the identification and selection of third-party subcontractors through Sub Contractor development, contract management, supplier relationships, price negotiations, working capital optimization and improved communication between the Major Projects Procurement Team, the branch offices and Operations/Installation Team.
How we will do it:
- We need an organized individual with Low Voltage Electrical installation trade experience who will be able to develop, align, and implement multiple installations to deliver the most efficient methods for winning projects and to procure Subcontract labor and material. This individual will coordinate all operational procurement activities, utilizing the systems, processes and procedures governing the procurement of subcontract labor while ensuring compliance with BOS procedures and DOA (Delegation of Authority) requirements.
Key functions of this role include:
- Partnership with Sales during project development phase to own Subcon Installation pricing, determine Subcon Strategy, review total Project SOW, qualify and clarify Subcon requirements/Bid leveling, utilize Estimating Tools (potential estimates upwards to and above $10MM) to develop baseline Subcon Installation Pricing,
- Source all 3rd Party Sub Quotes, review Customer documents to ensure adequate provisions are in JCI contract to Subcontractors, develop,
- Host, Review all RFPs, establishes and maintains effective relationships with suppliers and internal customers.
What we look for:
- Minimum 5 years Estimating experience
- Electrical industry equivalent experience (Journeyman Electrician, Electrical Supervisor, Estimator, Technician, or bachelor’s degree) required.
- Works effectively and directly with sales, Operations and in Team settings.
- Solid computer skills, including an understanding of MS Word, MS Excel, MS PowerPoint, and MS Project.
- Electrical industry/installation knowledge a plus (Division 23, 25, 26, 27 and 28) Electrical Supervisor, Electrician, Estimator, etc.)
- Procurement experience with a focus on construction/Low Voltage Electrical and services with experience in cost analysis and strong financial knowledge.
- Experience utilizing estimating software (Procore, McCormick, Arch desk, Accubid, Bluebeam etc.).
- Able to complete take-offs to establish BOM and ROM for project installation requirements.
- People Skills - Candidate should have the ability to cooperate with people of varying levels both inside/outside the organization and interact with the team to establish and achieve team goals and objectives.
- Communication - This person should have excellent verbal and written communication skills with ability to express information/ideas in a professional manner to varying levels of people and customers. Strong English skills required. Multi language capabilities preferred but not necessary. This would also include communication with Subs with influence on J.C.I. procedures and preferred methods for consistency.
- Initiative/Execution/Motivation - We're also looking for someone with the ability to take actions, make informed decisions and generate ideas to improve overall business performance on key metrics directly motivated by this position.
- Ownership/Commitment - A great candidate will have the ability to influence decisions & results even when all elements are not under the individual’s direct control.
- Planning/Balance - Candidate should have the ability to establish goals consistent with company objectives and to adapt plans to a changing environment.
- Ability to travel. (10% overnight travel)
SALARY RANGE: $120,000 - $150,000 (Salary to be determined by the education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities of the applicant, internal equity, and alignment with market data.)
