Summary
Responsibilities
- Oversee daily kitchen operations, including meal preparation, plating, and service coordination.
- Supervise and mentor kitchen staff, including chefs, line cooks, and kitchen assistants, ensuring adherence to recipes, presentation standards, and safety protocols.
- Monitor food quality, consistency, and portion control across all dishes prepared.
- Conduct regular inventory checks and manage stock levels to minimize waste and prevent shortages.
- Prepare and submit daily, weekly, and monthly reports on kitchen performance, expenses, and inventory usage.
- Ensure compliance with all health, safety, and sanitation regulations set by local authorities and company policies.
- Collaborate with the Head Chef and restaurant management to develop and implement menu changes, seasonal offerings, and special events.
- Maintain equipment in optimal working condition through routine inspections and coordinate repairs as needed.
- Lead staff training sessions on new recipes, safety procedures, and operational best practices.
- Address and resolve kitchen-related issues promptly, including staff conflicts, equipment malfunctions, and customer complaints.
Requirements
- Proven experience of 2–3 years in a kitchen supervision or leadership role within a restaurant or food service environment.
- Strong culinary skills with a solid foundation in various cooking techniques, including grilling, sautéing, baking, and plating.
- Demonstrated expertise in kitchen management, including workflow optimization, staff scheduling, and time management.
- In-depth knowledge of food safety standards, sanitation practices, and HACCP principles.
- Proficiency in inventory management, cost control, and waste reduction strategies.
- Excellent communication, leadership, and conflict-resolution skills.
- Ability to work under pressure in a high-volume, fast-paced kitchen environment.
- Familiarity with kitchen equipment and technology, including POS systems and inventory tracking software.
- High school diploma or equivalent; culinary certification or formal training is highly advantageous.
