Account Officer
About this role
- Manage daily bookkeeping activities including recording sales, expenses, receipts, and payments using accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, Xero, or similar).
- Prepare and reconcile bank statements, accounts payable, and accounts receivable on a regular basis.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date financial records, including general ledger entries, trial balances, and financial reports.
- Assist in the preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements (P&L, balance sheets, cash flow statements).
- Monitor inventory levels and conduct periodic stock reconciliations to minimize waste and control costs.
- Support payroll processing, ensuring timely and accurate disbursement of employee wages and deductions.
- Ensure compliance with tax regulations, including VAT, PAYE, and other statutory obligations, and coordinate with external auditors during audits.
- Provide financial insights and performance reports to management to support budgeting, forecasting, and operational planning.
- Implement and maintain internal controls to safeguard company assets and prevent financial discrepancies.
- Collaborate with department heads to track departmental expenses and identify cost-saving opportunities.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field.
- Minimum of 3 years of hands-on experience in accounting or bookkeeping within the food services, hospitality, or restaurant industry.
- Proficiency in financial accounting principles, including GAAP or IFRS standards.
- Strong expertise in bookkeeping, financial reporting, and accounting management.
- Experience with accounting software such as QuickBooks, Xero, or SAP.
- Excellent analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills with a keen eye for detail.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment with accuracy and timeliness.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to present financial data clearly to non-financial stakeholders.
- Knowledge of Nigerian tax regulations and compliance requirements (VAT, PAYE, etc.).
- Professional demeanor, integrity, and commitment to confidentiality.
