Job Description:

Johnson & Johnson announced plans to separate our Orthopaedics business to establish a standalone orthopaedics company, operating as DePuy Synthes. The process of the planned separation is anticipated to be completed within 18 to 24 months, subject to legal requirements, including consultation with works councils and other employee representative bodies, as may be required, regulatory approvals and other customary conditions and approvals. Should you accept this position, it is anticipated that, following conclusion of the transaction, you would be an employee of DePuy Synthes and your employment would be governed by DePuy Synthes employment processes, programs, policies, and benefit plans. In that case, details of any planned changes would be provided to you by DePuy Synthes at an appropriate time and subject to any necessary consultation processes.

Job Overview

The Manager, Data Contracting Support is responsible for leading operational support and lifecycle management activities that enable effective and compliant data contracting by the business with vendors, customers, research organizations and strategic partners. This role plays a key part in ensuring consistent data contract terms to support the compliant use of data related to company medical devices, services, software, employees and customers and to advance patient care through the proper collection, maintenance and use of data. The position partners closely with Legal, IT, ISRM, R&D, HEMA and Commercial teams to implement standardized contract terms for the treatment of protected data.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead data contracting support activities, ensuring consistent use of templates and standard terms across the company.

  • Working with the Chief Privacy Officer and Director, Privacy Policies, adjust contract templates and standard data terms to address changes to privacy and data protection laws.

  • Advise business partners on negotiations of data contracts.

Qualifications

Education

  • Bachelor’s degree required, preferably in Business Administration, Data Sciences, Public Policy, Information Systems, Legal Studies or related field.

Experience and Skills

Required

  • Typically requires at least 5 years of relevant experience in contracting support, data management, privacy, compliance, paralegal support, or related roles.

  • Demonstrated experience reviewing, drafting, advising on or managing contracts.

  • Facility with document management or contracting software applications.

  • Experience with privacy or data protection laws, including by way of example, HIPAA, GDPR, U.S. state and federal laws for the protection of financial, personal or patient data.

  • Strong writing and communication skills with the ability to understand legal terms and attention to detail.

Preferred

  • Experience in medical device, medtech, healthcare, pharmaceutical, or other industries subject to data regulation or data protection laws.

  • Familiarity with contract lifecycle management (CLM), ERP, or pricing systems.

  • Experience supporting audits, controls, or compliance‑driven processes.

  • Experience driving process standardization or operational excellence initiatives.

  • Advanced proficiency in data analysis and reporting tools (e.g., Excel, dashboards, analytics platforms).

  • Experience partnering cross‑functionally in a matrixed organization.

  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to data accuracy and compliance.

Other

  • Language: English proficiency required.

  • Travel: Up to 10–15% domestic travel, as needed.

  • Certifications such as CIPP, CIPM or equivalent a plus.

102,000 - 175,950
