What’s the role
The Production Operations Upstream discipline is involved in all phases of the asset lifecycle. The activities are focused on maximizing profits by optimizing production and minimizing deferments while protecting long term asset integrity.
Opportunity to be in a role that directly safeguards the cash generated from production while developing core competence in Perform Hydrocarbon and Energy Accounting. This position safeguards commercial interests of our business through the measurement to cash process, especially for production systems in Malaysia with unique challenges due to multiple stakeholders, interdependent physical network and complex commercial arrangements.
What you’ll be doing
Shell Technical Asset Support organization supporting the Shell Malaysia Upstream COG SOV & NOV Asset in Sarawak.
The main purpose of the role is to execute production reconciliation and product allocation for the operated fields in the Sarawak asset as well as interface with external parties to cover the non-operated facilities and 3rd party fields that are interconnected into the production network. The role will support the PHEA & Metering Lead in determining final sales allocation of Sarawak gas production and will endeavor to protect asset interest and values in production allocation, equity liftings and sales including assuring the integrity of the invoicing process. He/she shall comply to SOX requirements, PETRONAS Procedure & Guideline for Upstream Activities (PPGUA), MTAB Procedures, Gas Sales Agreements (GSA), PSC requirements and any local legislative requirements.
The specific accountabilities and tasks of this role are as follows:
- Ensure that all production, sales, injection, waste and emission data gathering and reporting is fit for purpose and of high integrity by performing quality checks, data validation, trending to minimize any potential errors
- Review all data acquisition systems and reporting processes, to ensure that data quality meets the appropriate agreements and procedures (e.g. Bintulu Integrated Gas MTAB, Bintulu Oil MTAB, PSCs, GSAs, AMS PHEA process); report and identify remedial actions to address any deviations
- Responsible to maintain an up-to-date MTAB Report Version Control document which details out all changes made to the MTAB allocation spreadsheets and seeking Partners & PETRONAS approval
- Operate and maintain SMEP production database system (Energy Component) with stringent data validation and keeping required records and statistical data for business control purposes
- Monitor terminal (1st stage) and field (2nd stage) levels reconciliation factors and highlight metering or measurement associated errors whenever applicable
- Familiar with Energy Components (EC) daily data entry, deferment data entry, well test data entry, export data entry, update estimated data, perform daily and monthly allocation run in EC
- Perform monthly allocation run in HYPAS
- Ensure accuracy and timely issuance of gas invoicing and debit/credit notes to the respective gas customers. Ensure the execution of by the facility operator for the sales gas invoicing is in compliance with the respective Gas Sales Agreements (GSA) by cross checking all the invoices, debit/credit notes, irregularities and relevant adjustment as required. Verify the sales gas invoicing for MLNG and BAGSF.
- Devise allocation method in line with GSA and MTAB principles for new ventures and/or when enhancement is required to the allocation methodology outlined in the MTAB procedure.
- Work closely with the Production Support Engineering team in reviewing the accuracy of production related reports, as well as engagement on any change in production allocation algorithms or calculation rule set.
- Perform stakeholder management in the metering irregularity process from hydrocarbon allocation (HCA) perspective.
- Provide reporting of key performance indicators as required by PETRONAS.
- Identify, pursue and manage opportunities with internal and external stakeholder in order to minimize waste, optimize use of resources and to protect Shell interest.
What you bring
- An engineering degree preferably in Process, Petroleum, Chemical or Mechanical discipline with minimum 3 to 5 years of experience.
- Minimum 2 years of experience in Hydrocarbon accounting role.
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to influence others.
- Very familiar with HCA policies and procedures or the ability to learn quickly.
- Analytical and able to understand the complexity of the upstream oil and gas production processes, recognize potential opportunities and threats to the production system.
- Exhibit the Enterprise First behavior and promote collaboration across assets and functions. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to influence others and interface with external bodies.
- Strong results-oriented focus with a passion for continuous improvement such as digitalization opportunities. Able to deliver with minimal supervision.
- Able to communicate effectively in English & Bahasa Malaysia (verbal and written).
