Machine Shop, Lead
About this role
Essential Responsibilities
- Lead daily shop floor activities and assist in prioritizing work assignments.
- Assist with troubleshooting machining, setup, tooling, fixture and equipment issues to minimize downtime.
- Support production scheduling and ensure work is completed efficiently and on time.
- Serve as a resource for team members regarding processes, equipment, and quality standards.
- Monitor workflow and communicate staffing or production concerns to management.
- Assist with onboarding and training of new employees.
- Promote safe work practices and ensure compliance with all safety requirements.
- Support quality initiatives and assist in resolving production issues.
- Foster teamwork, accountability, and positive employee relations.
- Coordinate with other departments to ensure operational needs are met.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- Support continuous improvement initiatives, including Lean Manufacturing, 5S, waste reduction, and process improvement activities.
Minimum Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Working knowledge of machining equipment, tooling, and inspection methods.
- Must have experience with milling equipment and machine shop practices
- Demonstrated technical knowledge of machine shop operations.
- Strong communication and problem-solving skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- Prior experience serving as a lead, trainer, mentor, or informal team leader preferred
- Ability to lead and influence others without direct authority.
- Basic computer proficiency.
