Mold Maintenance Technician                    

JOB SUMMARY

We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Mold Maintenance Technician to join our team in the EPS foam molding industry. In this role, you will be responsible for the changing, cleaning, troubleshooting, and repair of aluminum and steel molds used in EPS molding equipment such as shape molders and block molders. The ideal candidate has experience with steam and vacuum systems, understands EPS processing, and is committed to ensuring the reliability and performance of critical mold tooling in a high-volume production environment.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Troubleshoot mold issues including poor venting, misalignment, sticking parts, flash, and inconsistent part fill.
  • Inspect, clean, and repair mold vents, steam chambers, and fill guns.
  • Maintain mold alignment and ensure mold frames and platens are properly adjusted and lubricated.
  • Disassemble and reassemble mold components, replacing damaged or worn parts as necessary.
  • Collaborate with the production and quality departments to ensure molds are running efficiently and producing conforming foam parts.
  • Document maintenance tasks, mold performance, and issues in maintenance logs
  • Ensure safe operation of all tools and equipment, and maintain a clean, organized work area.
  • Assist with mold changeovers and ensure proper storage, labeling, and handling of molds.
  • Suggest and support continuous improvement initiatives related to mold design or maintenance processes

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • High school diploma or GED; technical certification or training in mechanical or industrial maintenance preferred Proficient with basic hand and power tools, precision measuring.
  • Proficient with basic hand and power tools, precision measuring instruments, and pneumatic systems.
  • Familiarity with troubleshooting mechanical, pneumatic, and basic hydraulic mold systems.
  • Ability to read and interpret mold drawings, schematics, and maintenance manuals.
  • Comfortable working in hot, humid environments typical of EPS production facilities.
  • Able to lift up to 50 lbs and work on feet for extended periods.
  • Ability to read, write & speak English proficiently

  • 40 Hours+ per week

  • Stooping, Bending, Reaching

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Strong understanding of EPS processing, including the role of steam, vacuum, cooling, and fill cycles in mold performance
  • Experience operating or maintaining shape molding machines, block molders, and pre-expanders.
  • Forklift certification or ability to obtain one.
  • Knowledge of CMMS or other digital maintenance tracking systems.
  • Understanding of Lean Manufacturing or 5S practices.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

  • EPS foam manufacturing facility with exposure to heat, humidity, and moving machinery.
  • Use of PPE such as gloves, safety glasses, ear protection, and steel-toe boots are required.
  • Work may involve standing, kneeling, and working in tight spaces.
  • May require overtime or weekend work based on production needs
