About the Role:
The Culinary Director is responsible for overseeing all culinary operations within the organization, ensuring the highest standards of food quality, safety, and presentation are consistently met. This role involves strategic menu planning, cost control, and labor management to optimize profitability while maintaining exceptional guest satisfaction. The Culinary Director leads and mentors kitchen and food service teams, fostering a culture of excellence, innovation, and collaboration. They work closely with executive leadership to align culinary initiatives with business goals and brand identity. Ultimately, the Culinary Director drives operational efficiency and culinary creativity to enhance the overall dining experience across all food service outlets.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Proven experience as an Executive Chef or Culinary Director in a high-volume food service environment.
- Strong knowledge of food costs, cost control methods, and labor cost management.
- Comprehensive understanding of food safety standards and regulations.
- Demonstrated expertise in restaurant and food service management.
- Ability to develop and execute effective menu plans that balance creativity and profitability.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Culinary degree or relevant certification from an accredited institution.
- Experience managing multiple food service locations or large-scale culinary operations.
- Proficiency with food service management software and inventory control systems.
- Background in nutrition or dietary program development.
- Strong leadership skills with experience in team building and staff development.
Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement innovative and cost-effective menus that meet customer preferences and dietary requirements.
- Manage food and labor costs through effective budgeting, forecasting, and inventory control.
- Ensure compliance with all food safety regulations and maintain rigorous sanitation standards across all kitchen and food service areas.
- Lead, train, and evaluate culinary and food service staff to promote professional growth and maintain high performance.
- Collaborate with restaurant management and other departments to coordinate seamless food service operations and enhance guest satisfaction.
Skills:
The required skills such as Executive Chef expertise, food cost management, and food safety are applied daily to ensure operational excellence and compliance with health standards. Cost control and labor cost management skills are critical for maintaining budgetary goals and maximizing profitability. Restaurant and food service management skills enable the Culinary Director to oversee complex operations and coordinate between kitchen staff and front-of-house teams effectively. Menu planning skills are used to create appealing, innovative, and cost-efficient menus that meet diverse customer needs. Preferred skills like proficiency in management software and leadership abilities enhance the ability to streamline operations and foster a motivated, high-performing culinary team.
