SUMMARY:

The Nutrition Site Coordinator operates Iona's congregate dining site nutrition operations (position hours are 9:30 am – 2:30 pm while the sites are typically open from 10:00 am – 2:00 pm Monday through). The Nutrition Coordinator is responsible for overseeing daily nutrition operations at the dining site, ensuring safe food handling, compliance with Department of Aging and Community Living (DACL) standards, and a welcoming, supportive environment for older adult participants. The coordinator plays a key role in ensuring cleanliness and safety in serving meals and ensuring meal orders are precise.  

Responsibilities:

Operational Oversight:

  • Manage daily operations of Iona’s congregate dining site. 
  • Supervise set-up, meal service, delivery, and clean-up 
  • Ensure participants sign in daily and reserve meals for the following week. 
  • Submit weekly reports on meal orders, attendance, and supply needs to the Nutrition Program Manager. 
  • Complete intake documentation for new participants and provide it to the Data Coordinator. 
  • Conduct intake and nutrition screenings for new participants and annual renewals.

Program and Participant Engagement:

  • Partner with the Recreation Coordinator to coordinate wellness programming, troubleshoot issues, and share ideas. 
  • Lead group discussions, announcements, and participant engagement activities. 
  • Distribute menus, activity calendars, and informational handouts to participants as needed.
  • Respond to participant feedback on programs, services, or meals, escalating meal concerns to the Nutrition Program Manager as needed. 
  • Refer participant issues to the designated Social Worker, when appropriate. 
  • Collaborate with staff and volunteers to maintain a smooth, safe, and welcoming program environment. 

Health and Safety:

  • Serve nutritious meals and ensure dietary needs are met in collaboration with dietitians and nutritionists.
  • Ensure proper accommodation of food allergies and dietary restrictions. 
  • Maintain site cleanliness per Lead Agency procedures, including opening/closing routines and hygiene standards and DACL Community Dining Standards and Guidelines. 
  • Oversee clean-up of the dining area and kitchen

Coordination and Support: 

  • Participate in monthly activity planning meetings as requested. 
  • Partner with the Recreation Coordinator at the assigned site, following directives from the management team. 
  • Support programs and activities when the Recreation Coordinator is absent, including overseeing programs, managing sign-ins, and addressing participant needs. 

Compliance and Certification:

  • Maintain active ServSafe, CPR, and First Aid certifications. 
  • Attend required staff meetings, trainings, and certification sessions.

REQUIREMENTS:

  • 1+ years of related work experience.
  • Strong relationship-building and collaboration skills. 
  • Proficiency with Zoom and Microsoft Office platforms (Outlook, Teams, Word, Excel). 
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills. 
  •  Ability to obtain or maintain current ServSafe, CPR, and First Aid certifications. 
  • Ability to regularly lift, carry, and maneuver 25+ lbs. 
  • Bilingual (Spanish) is an asset but not required.
