Applied AI Engineer, Finance - Ledgentic
About this role
Less than a year out of stealth, Ledgentic is already working with enterprise clients across Europe. We're scaling fast, backed by experienced angel investors who've built and sold several unicorns, and we're only getting started.
We started with Accounts Payable. Our LLM-based engine now automates over 96% of invoices end to end, from line-item matching to VAT validation and reconciliation. Next up: Expense Management and Accounts Receivable.
We've proven that AI can automate a large part of invoice processing. The hard part isn't accessing the best models. It's understanding finance deeply enough to know what to automate, how it should work, and how to make it reliable when real-world accounting gets complicated.
You'll be part of deciding what we build next, working directly with customers and founders, and taking ideas all the way from the first conversation to what's running in production.
AI isn't a feature here
AI is embedded throughout our development process, from idea and architecture to code, testing and documentation. We use tools like Claude Code, Codex and Cursor every day.
We're not looking for someone who's simply comfortable with that. We're looking for someone who wants to push it further.
Our stack
TypeScript, React, NestJS and PostgreSQL, with LLM-based document understanding using Gemini and OpenAI, deployed on GCP with Terraform and Docker.
What you'll do
Work directly with finance customers to understand where invoice handling, VAT rules and expense flows create problems today.
Turn those problems into product decisions and build the solutions yourself.
Build new functionality in our Accounts Payable product, including VAT validation and supplier screening.
Shape our next module, Expense Management, from the ground up alongside the founders.
What we're looking for
You sit at the intersection of software engineering, finance and AI.
Hands-on understanding of finance and accounting workflows such as AP, AR, reconciliation or expense management.
At least a couple of years of hands-on software development experience.
You don't just follow what's happening in AI, you use it: trying new tools, experimenting with new models and building things to see what actually works.
Comfortable taking initiative, making decisions and moving things forward without waiting for a finished specification.
We care more about the value you create and how you approach problems than ticking every box on a traditional requirements list. We're looking for someone curious, proactive and eager to figure things out.
Life at Ledgentic
We're a team of ten based in central Stockholm, working closely with the founders with short decision paths and plenty of room to influence both product and technology.
We like working together in person and expect you to spend a couple of days a week at the office. We're looking for people who want to take real ownership, not just of their code, but of what we build as a company.
As an early member of the team, you'll have the opportunity to join our employee stock option program and share in the value you help create.

Don't have a CV? Send us your LinkedIn and answer a couple of questions. We'd much rather understand what you've built, what you know about finance and how you think about AI.
