SUMMARY: The Imaging Health Information Technician serves as direct support for the storage and transfer of Imaging studies, reports and imaging related health information.  The person in this role is expected to demonstrate exceptional internal and external customer service and must have the ability to process large volumes of work and multitask while maintaining great accuracy.   

 

CORE RESPONSIBILITIES: 

  • Acquires pertinent prior images and reports for all modalities in accordance to Department and Radiologist established protocols 
  • Monitors daily schedule for add-ons, ensuring appropriate outside records are imported for review.  
  • Call patients to obtain healthcare information 
  • Initiates requests for reports and prior images and determines urgency of request to ensure timely reporting  
  • Enters orders into RIS for outside studies received that will be imported into the PACS system 
  • Provides updates to Administrative Supervisor or Coordinator on delays of film/image requests, and any difficult cases that may result in delayed reporting or interrupted patient care 
  • Communicate with courier as needed for stat deliveries 
  • Utilizes all forms of electronic data sharing including but not limited to: InterMed PACs, outside facility PACs that InterMed can access, web-based record sharing, and CD importing both incoming and outgoing 
  • Receives all films/image requests and ensures timely delivery to requesting party in all imaging formats 
  • Initiates and acts as primary contact for providers with regard to missing reports and addendum requests with contracted radiology group 
  • Troubleshoots file room issues, missing studies, physician requests, etc. 
  • Provide training in the records management process 
  • Act as a resource to other departments within the company 
  • Other responsibilities as directed by manager or coordinator 
  • Perform other duties to support the mission, vision and values of InterMed.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES: 

  • Education: 
  • High School diploma or equivalent required 
  • Experience: 
  • Prior medical office experience preferred 
  • Medical records experience strongly preferred 
  • Experience with EMR/eClinical Works, PACs, and RIS systems strongly preferred 
  • Demonstrated proficiency with Windows-based computer applications 
  • Understanding of medical terminology preferred 
  • Excellent professional judgement, attention to detail, phone skills, and decision-making ability 
  • Proven ability to prioritize and handle multiple tasks 
  • Excellent communication skills

The estimated compensation range is the budgeted amount for this position. Final offers are based on various factors, including skill set, experience, location, qualifications, and other job-related reasons. Certain positions may be eligible for incentive compensation plans above and beyond base compensation.

InterMed also provides on-site medical care and physical therapy services at IDEXX and L.L.Bean.
