About this role
ABOUT US
At Intelligen, weโre building something different. Over the past three years, weโve evolved from a bold startup to a trusted partner for some of Australiaโs most complex data transformations. Weโve helped organizations move from legacy to modern platforms, embedded governance into decision-making, and brought AI into the hands of the business, responsibly and at speed.
As we continue to grow, weโre expanding our consulting team with senior data specialists who can help clients create clear, scalable data structures that support trusted reporting, analytics and decision-making.
Weโre looking for a Senior Data Modeler who can step in quickly, bring structure to complex information and develop models that work in practice.
This is not a traditional data modelling role focused only on producing diagrams and specifications. You will work directly in Databricks to profile source data, design and prototype Silver and Gold-layer models, write SQL and physically build and validate tables. You will own modelling decisions covering grain, keys, relationships, dimensional structures, data quality and business rules.
This is a senior role for someone who combines strong technical judgement with the confidence to work through ambiguity and make an immediate impact.
This role is ideal for someone who can:
- Turn complex requirements into clear, scalable data models
- Must design and implement, not hand models to engineers
- Build trust with stakeholders and keep delivery moving
Key Responsibilities
Data Modelling & Hands-on Delivery
- Develop conceptual, logical and physical data models across enterprise data products.
- Work directly in Databricks to profile data and design Silver and Gold-layer models.
- Define grain, keys, relationships, facts, dimensions, business rules and data-quality controls.
- Write and optimize SQL to physically build, validate and tune tables.
- Apply Kimball and/or Data Vault approaches while maintaining consistent modelling standards and documentation.
- Work with Data Engineers to ensure models are implemented correctly and are scalable, reusable and production-ready.
Stakeholder Leadership & Delivery
- Explain and defend design decisions to business, engineering, architecture and governance stakeholders
- Facilitate modelling workshops with business and technical stakeholders
- Translate ambiguous requirements into clear modelling recommendations
- Must operate autonomously within supplied standards and patterns
- 4-5 yearsโ enterprise data modelling experience across conceptual, logical and physical models.
- Recent production Databricks experience, including designing and physically implementing Silver and Gold-layer tables.
- Advanced SQL for transformation, profiling, validation, reconciliation and performance tuning.
- Strong dimensional modelling knowledge, including grain, facts, dimensions, keys and slowly changing dimensions.
- Practical experience applying Kimball and/or Data Vault approaches.
- Strong understanding of data integration, data quality, data warehousing and lakehouse architecture.
- Strong stakeholder management and the ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment.
- Utilities or energy-sector experience.
- SAP or enterprise ERP knowledge.
- Python or PySpark experience.
At Intelligen, we care about how we deliver, not just what we deliver. Youโll join a smart, kind and ambitious team where curiosity, ideas and practical impact are valued.
- Grow With Purpose
- Structured development pathways, paid certifications and weekly knowledge sharing.
- Support That Helps You Thrive
- A dedicated support lead and regular 360ยฐ feedback to guide your development.
- A Community Youโll Enjoy Being Part Of
- Innovation days, team events and opportunities to shape our growing practice.
If you want meaningful work, a collaborative team and the chance to make an impact, drop us a message and start the conversation today.
