About this role

Overview

The Tier 3 Engineer provides 24×7×365 operational support, troubleshooting, and incident resolution for the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA), Office of Information and Technology (OIT), Product Delivery Services (PDS), Benefits and Memorials (BAM), and Memorial and Benefit Services (MBS). The Tier 3 Engineer delivers secure, reliable, and effective Information Technology (IT) solutions that support the Department’s mission.

Responsibilities

  • Respond to alerts, HPIs/CPIs, and produce Event Update Reports and Postmortems.
  • Apply OS/application patches, monitor environments, and support deployments.
  • Monitor environments continuously, including dashboards, logs, telemetry, availability, and capacity metrics.
  • Produce Postmortem Reports, Event Update Reports, and After‑Action Reports (AARs).
  • Provide trend analysis, performance assessments, and recommendations for system optimizations. Perform OS and application patching, backup and restoration operations, job scheduling, and environment maintenance.
  • Support deployments (including after-hours releases), validating maximum‑load performance and ensuring release stability
  • Implement SRE practices to improve monitoring, fault tolerance, resiliency, logging, alerting, and automated testing.
  • Support proactive monitoring, synthetic tests, and integration validations to prevent outages and maintain SLTs

Qualifications

Required:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in computer science or an IT-related degree with 7-10 years' experience
  • Experience providing 24×7 support, responding to automated alerts, HPIs/CPIs, and resolving incidents under strict SLTs.
  • Experience performing patching, maintenance, backup/recovery, monitoring, and environment support.
  • Experience producing postmortems, outage reports, event updates, and conducting root‑cause analysis.
  • Experience supporting deployments, incident triage, synthetic monitoring, and SRE‑aligned processes.
  • Public Trust

 

Preferred:

  • Experience with .NET/Java/Oracle; VA systems; cloud operations

 

Salary Range: $110,000 - $138,000

 

The above salary range represents a general guideline. Integral Federal considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers, such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills, and current market conditions. 

 

Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and/or discretionary bonuses in addition to base pay.
