Job description - Technical Project Manager

 

Role Overview

At Sykatec, the Sales Technical Project Manager plays a key role in bridging Sales, Engineering, Purchasing, and Production. The position supports customer projects from initial inquiry through prototype and pre-series phases, ensuring technical feasibility, competitive costing, and reliable project execution.

This role combines technical expertise, commercial understanding, and project management, contributing directly to Sykatec’s customer satisfaction and business growth.

 

Key Responsibilities

 

Sales Support & Offer Preparation

  • Support Sales in the preparation of technical and commercial offers.
  • Analyze customer requirements, drawings, and specifications.
  • Perform feasibility studies for new customer inquiries and projects.
  • Prepare cost calculations, including materials, manufacturing processes, routings, and process times.
  • Act as a technical interface between Sales and internal departments during the RFQ and offer phase.

 

Project & Milestone Management

  • Plan, coordinate, and track project milestones from inquiry to prototype and pre-series production.
  • Ensure timely availability of prototypes according to customer and internal schedules.
  • Monitor project progress, identify risks, and escalate issues when required.
  • Report project status to the Head of Sales and relevant stakeholders.

 

Prototype & Process Development

  • Coordinate prototype production, including technical drawings, fixtures, and testing concepts.
  • Define and support prototype tests to validate feasibility and customer requirements.
  • Support process and technology development in collaboration with Engineering and Production.
  • Ensure smooth transfer from prototype to serial-ready processes where applicable.

 

Purchasing & Supplier Interface

  • Support the buying function with technical input for sourcing decisions.
  • Clarify technical requirements with suppliers and internal stakeholders.
  • Contribute to make-or-buy decisions and supplier feasibility evaluations.

 

Technical Support & Documentation

  • Provide 1st-level technical support for Sales, Customers, and internal teams.
  • Support the creation and maintenance of technical documentation, routings, and process descriptions.
  • Ensure alignment between customer requirements, internal capabilities, and manufacturing processes.

 

Qualifications & Experience

  • Degree or technical education in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Mechatronics, or a related field.
  • Experience in a technical sales support, project management, or manufacturing environment.
  • Solid understanding of manufacturing processes, cost calculation, and feasibility analysis.
  • Experience with prototype production, fixtures, and testing methods.
  • Ability to read, interpret, and create technical drawings.
