We are looking for a Test Cell Technician to join our Research & Development lab in Waukesha, WI. In this role you will work in a temperature-controlled engineering lab, in partnership with engineers and other colleagues, to operate and test Waukesha engine assets from 400-5000HP. You will be responsible for the installation of test parts, set up, operation, recording data, and communication to others supporting the test. Your input will be used in developing new designs, performing durability testing of new components, and measuring the emissions output of our products. The lab is a collaborative environment with a common objective to develop class-leading products that enable a cleaner future through reduced emissions and improved engine performance.

As a key member of our engineering test team, you will:

  • Collect measurement data, document, and communicate test results and information.
  • Disassemble, inspect, measure, and rebuild engine component parts and systems.
  • Prepare test and measurement fixtures and assemblies.
  • Fabricate and machine assemblies and components to requested requirements.
  • Set up and operate data acquisition and measurement equipment, exhaust emission measurement systems, and test instrumentation equipment.
  • Set-up, calibration, operation, and repair of instrumentation equipment (hardware and software
  • Support the planning and execution of automated testing in collaboration with others.
  • Participate as a member of the team in performing complex performance and durability tests on laboratory engines, components, and systems.

What you’ll bring:

  • Associate degree in Engine Systems, Mechanical Technology, Automotive/Diesel Technology, or a closely related technical field OR a High School Diploma or GED plus four additional years of relevant experience.
  • Demonstrated mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting ability.
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Detail-oriented with strong documentation skills.

What’ll make you stand out:

  • Hands-on mechanical, technician, test cell, engine, automotive, diesel, agricultural equipment, or related experience
  • Experience working on diesel, natural gas, industrial, agricultural, automotive, marine, or heavy equipment engines.
  • Previous experience operating dynamometers, engine test cells, or similar testing equipment
  • Knowledge of data acquisition systems and instrumentation
  • Familiarity with emissions testing and measurement systems
  • Basic understanding of electrical circuits, wiring diagrams, and troubleshooting techniques.
  • Welding experience or willingness to learn (MIG, TIG, Gas Welding, etc.)
  • Experience with machine shop tools and metal fabrication processes.
  • Mechanical rebuild, maintenance, or repair experience.

Work Schedule: First Shift | Monday-Friday | Generally 7:00 AM - 3:00 PM
