Your contribution!
The Health & Safety (H&S) team at Innergex aims to build an environment that believes in a proactive Health & Safety approach, and to support a culture founded on prevention. As a key member of this team, you will act as a change agent in the implementation of a strong Health & Safety culture. Reporting to the Senior Director, Health & Safety and working under the functional supervision of the Regional Manager, Health & Safety, you will be accountable to maintain and sustain Health & Safety initiatives primarily at our Hydro, Wind and Solar facilities located in Western Canada and USA in respect to corporate health and safety programs and governmental regulations.
Your day-to-day!
- Support the implementation of the Innergex Health & Safety Management System, procedures and policies:
- Assist with drafting of corporate standards and safe work procedures.
- Manage the administration of the system (e.g. document control and tracking).
- Assist with development of site-specific procedures – as directed.
- Provide support and advice to employees on occupational H&S compliance.
- Carry out site safety risk assessments and observations.
- Support the incident reporting and investigation process as directed.
- Develop and deliver training and information sessions on H&S procedures, both in person and via on-line training applications.
- Identify suitable training providers and organise safety-related training for staff at the facilities.
- Organize audit of construction activities through third party consultants.
- Organize and maintain current information about contractors to meet all safety requirements.
- Prepare and report statistical data in the appropriate databases for use in H&S reports.
- Track implementation progress of H&S initiatives.
- Collate data and prepare monthly H&S reports.
- Conduct Site Specific Risk Assessments and agree output with site leaders. Upload completed assessments in the internal CRM (INNsite).
- Conduct Site First Aid assessments and agree output with site leaders.
- Provide advice and support to site leaders in preparation and review of Emergency Response plans so that they align with corporate standard.
- Prepare draft hazard assessments, entry plans and rescue plans for confined spaces at site.
- Conduct in-person training at sites for roll out of company standards (for example CS).
- Conduct training and coaching to site employees in the use of LPS tools.
- Project specific: Undertake specific implementation projects as required.
- Assist Regional Manager in the preparation of regional training plans.
- Produce quarterly training reports.
- Manage regional administration of BIS.
Your skills, our requirements!
- 3-5 years' experience in a similar role.
- Experience in the following focus areas: job hazard/loss analysis, risk assessment, incident investigation and root cause analysis, writing safety procedures and claim management.
- Bachelor’s Degree in a field related to Health & Safety.
- Recognised professional Health & Safety qualification (CRSP) would be an asset.
- Good knowledge of EHS laws, regulations and standards in BC and of OSHA regulations.
- A valid unrestricted class 5 driver's license.
- Strong organizational and administrative skills.
- Excellent team player and strong interpersonal skills.
- Integrity and ethical work standards.
- Strong communication and problem-solving skills reflected in the ability to foster solid working relationships.
- Ability to travel regularly to facilities in Western Canada. 30-40% of time.
- Advanced proficiency in MS Office (Word, Excel, etc.)
- Experience using H&S specific software for incident investigation, loss prevention, and learning/training management.

The position can be based in the company's Vancouver (BC) office.
This position is a P2 level.

Pay Transparency Statement
Compensation for roles at Innergex varies based on a wide range of factors, including skill set, education, and relevant experience. We are committed to pay equity and take internal equity among current team members into account when determining any final offer.
To support pay transparency, the hiring range for this position is $73 000–95 000 per year, exclusive of fringe benefits or potential bonuses. Your final base salary, if hired, will be determined by factors such as your skills, education, and experience, along with our commitment to internal equity.
Please note that it is not typical to hire at the top of the hiring range, as doing so limits opportunities for future salary growth. Innergex also offers a comprehensive compensation and benefits package.
