The team
Within Payment & Settlement Services we are looking for a new Platform Architect. You will be joining an experienced team of 30 people that work together with Business and Technology colleagues to realize our goals that drive our vision. The team is based in Amsterdam and works to further develop ING’s global services. This position will be focussed on architecting the platform capabilities of PSS.
Roles and responsibilities
As Platform Architect you:
Develop a strategic platform architecture plan, ensuring that platform features are prioritized appropriately, estimates are reliable, benefits can be realized, and design activities are proactively monitored and tracked to meet planned timeframes and the overall architecture plan.
Support a strong platform team that governs the platform development of PSS.
Manage and report on the platform performance of PSS; set appropriate performance objectives PSS teams and govern PSS on them.
Create broad understanding, buy-in and agency of PSS managers and employees by exhaustively providing workshops, trainings and required material. It is essential to use the platform workshops as developed by ING in the past.
Build strong co-operation with stakeholders, early adaptors and promotors of the platform approach so as to manage the changes required in the next step of platform evolution of PSS.
Communicate the actions needed to implement the platform strategy and plan within PSS; explain the relationship to the broader organization's mission, vision, and values; motivate people to commit to these and to do extraordinary things to achieve the platform strategy of PSS.
Apply expertise to act as the organizational authority on platform strategies, implementation, adoption and realization within a payments area.

You have at least 5 years of demonstrable experience as a platform architect.
You are very experienced in applying the platform workshops developed in ING to a varied public such as high level management, technical experts and business experts, particularly in the payments area.
Strong visionary in tech, platforms and AI, demonstrated in a role as trusted visionary advisor to management and as a regular publisher of visionary articles.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills, capable of conveying complex technical topics to various audiences.
Ability to develop strong and collaborative partnerships with organizational leaders.
Extensive payment knowledge.
You improve yourself constantly; and you challenge, improve and train others continuously. E.g. you have coached people from trainees to management.
A bachelor’s or master’s degree in computer science, Information Systems, Business Administration, or related field / equivalent work experience.
Knowledge of and experience with IT architecture methodologies, processes (e.g., TOGAF), service management processes and an agile work environment.
Have experience in highly regulated environments (e.g., financial institutions).
