About this role
The Assistant Director, Working Professional Recruitment serves within the Strategic Enrollment Management (SEM) unit in the Owen Graduate School of Management (OGSM) at Vanderbilt University and is a key individual contributor responsible for assisting in the development and execution of innovative strategies to attract, recruit, and enroll students in graduate management education programs targeted specifically at working professionals. This role manages key components of the working professional recruitment lifecycle, and collaborates with various departments, both internal and external to OGSM to achieve enrollment goals while enhancing the school's brand presence in the professional community. This position reports to the Director, Working Professional Recruitment.
The Owen Graduate School of Management (OGSM) is a professional school at Vanderbilt University, located in Nashville, Tennessee, focused on graduate-level business education. The Strategic Enrollment Management (SEM) unit is a dedicated team within OGSM focused on optimizing the recruitment, selection, aiding, onboarding, and enrollment of students throughout their academic journey. The SEM unit employs data-driven strategies that align enrollment practices with OGSM’s reputational ambitions, revenue goals, and academic mission.
- Strategic Planning: Assist in the implementation of a comprehensive recruitment strategy that effectively targets working professionals, focusing on the unique value propositions of the Owen Graduate School of Management’s graduate programs.
- Recruitment Lifecycle Management: Manage key components of the working professional recruitment lifecycle, from prospecting and outreach to application processing and enrollment, ensuring a seamless and positive experience for prospective students.
- Personalized Admissions Support: Provide individualized guidance and support to prospective students throughout the admissions process, addressing questions and concerns to facilitate informed decision-making.
- Collaboration: Partner with all areas of OGSM SEM, Selection and Evaluation, Enrollment Operations and Systems, OGSM Marcomm, and academic departments to create cohesive outreach campaigns, informational sessions, and events that effectively engage working professionals.
- Market Analysis: Conduct market research and competitor analysis to identify trends and opportunities in the graduate management education landscape, assisting in the adjustment of recruitment strategies as needed to remain competitive.
- Networking and Outreach: Build and maintain relationships with industry partners, alumni, and professional organizations to create a robust pipeline of prospective students and enhance the school’s visibility in the professional community.
- Performance Measurement: Collaborate with the Director of Working Professional Recruitment to monitor Objectives and Key Results (OKRs) related to working professional recruitment efforts, analyzing data to measure effectiveness and inform continuous improvement strategies.
Supervisory Relationships
This role does not have supervisory responsibility. This position reports to the Director, Working Professional Recruitment.
Qualifications
- Education: Bachelor’s degree required.
- Experience: Minimum of 2 years of experience in admissions, enrollment management, or a related field.
- Skills: Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage diverse audiences effectively. Exceptional organizational and project management abilities are essential.
- Analytical Skills: Proficiency in utilizing data-driven approaches for decision-making and strategy development.
- Networking: Established network within the higher education landscape, particularly in graduate management education, is a plus.

Our Interdisciplinary Materials Science (IMS) program offers a unique multidisciplinary experience where students design their own curriculum, and collaborate with faculty and students from engineering, chemistry, physics, and medicine, who are working on some the biggest of society's challenges.
The IMS Ph.D. program is integrated with VINSE (Vanderbilt Institute of Nanoscale Science and Engineering), which boasts brand new state-of-the-art fabrication and characterization facilities. Resources include a cleanroom, analytical/nanocrystal support core, and an advanced imaging suite.
