Job Description

The Assistant Director, Enrollment Management Analytics is part of the Strategic Enrollment Management (SEM) unit in the Owen Graduate School of Management (OGSM) at Vanderbilt University and is a key individual contributor responsible for promoting data-informed decision-making across the SEM unit and assisting in the operational functions of the applicant evaluation and selection process. This position will implement strategies to enhance the data literacy of colleagues within Enrollment and play a key role in advancing the OGSM's enrollment objectives by leveraging data analytics to inform decisions and enhance the overall effectiveness of the admissions process. Additionally, the Assistant Director will support key aspects of the evaluation and selection process, ensuring integrity, fairness, consistency, and effectiveness while aligning the selection strategies with the university's enrollment objectives. This role reports directly to the Senior Director of Evaluation and Selection.

The Strategic Enrollment Management (SEM) unit is a dedicated team within OGSM focused on optimizing the recruitment, selection, aiding, onboarding, and enrollment of students throughout their academic journey. The SEM unit employs data-driven strategies that align enrollment practices with OGSM’s reputational ambitions, revenue goals, and academic mission.

Duties and Responsibilities
 
  • Capacity Building: Design and deliver training programs aimed at increasing the data literacy of the enrollment team, enabling colleagues to ask critical questions and respond with evidence-based insights.
  • Model Creation: Lead efforts to develop statistical and evidence-informed models that support enrollment goals within admissions, scholarships, financial aid, and student success strategies.
  • Research Monitoring: Stay informed about external research in areas such as enrollment, admissions, and student finances. Identify and disseminate relevant findings to guide strategic and operational decisions within the enrollment division.
  • Process Oversight: Support key components of the admissions evaluation process, including decision process operations, and decision release procedures, ensuring adherence to best practices and regulatory standards.
  • Quality Assurance: Assist in the development of metrics and evaluation criteria to assess the effectiveness and fairness of the admissions process. Use findings to make informed recommendations for process improvements.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with the Director of Enrollment Operations and Systems, marketing, and recruitment to continuously evaluate and refine enrollment strategies based on emerging data insights, market trends, and institutional objectives. 
  • Data-Driven Insights: Provide actionable insights based on data analyses that support enrollment planning, resource allocation, and priority setting.
  • Performance Measurement: Collaborate with the Senior Director of Evaluation and Selection to develop Objectives and Key Results (OKRs) related to assess the effectiveness and impact of enrollment strategies and initiatives.

Supervisory Relationships

  • This role does not entail direct supervisory responsibilities for staff members. This role reports directly to the Senior Director of Evaluation and Selection.

Educations and Qualifications

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree required; advanced degree preferred.

  • Experience: Minimum of 3 years of experience in data analytics, enrollment management, or a related field within higher education, with experience implementing data-driven strategies.

  • Analytical Skills: Proficient in statistical analysis and data visualization tools, with the ability to interpret complex data sets and present findings in a clear and actionable manner.
  • Preferred qualifications: Prior experience in graduate admissions, including application review and scholarship evaluation.
  • Organizational Skills: Excellent organizational and project management skills, with the capacity to manage multiple projects simultaneously while meeting deadlines.
  • Interpersonal Skills: Strong communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to engage effectively with multiple stakeholders, including academic leaders and staff.
  • Problem-Solving Skills: Ability to think critically and creatively to address challenges and leverage data for enhanced decision-making.

Our Interdisciplinary Materials Science (IMS) program offers a unique multidisciplinary experience where students design their own curriculum, and collaborate with faculty and students from engineering, chemistry, physics, and medicine, who are working on some the biggest of society's challenges.
