About the position

We are looking for a Light Supervisor. You will closely collaborate with the VFX Supervisor, the production team and other Skill Supervisors, and you are responsible for planning the work of your team to ensure a smooth and successful delivery.

As a Light Supervisor, you are both a team leader and a senior artist. You delegate work while being a mentor and caring for the well-being of your team. In this role your priority will be supervision, where you focus on planning, problem solving and support, ahead of doing hands-on work.

Outside of working on shows, you are acknowledged and expected to be a person of trust in your discipline, and to be an active participant in ongoing development and training of both artists and workflow/technology.

Your work will include:

  • In collaboration with Production, defining and adjusting the overall schedule for your team, taking into consideration the VFX supervisor’s vision and crew’s capabilities.

  • Understanding, developing and communicating the artistic vision and goals of the show

  • Promoting ownership and responsibility within the team and providing opportunities for artists to grow.

  • Reviewing and screening dailies both for internal and client review.

  • Streamlining and unifying templates and sequences.

  • Supporting and mentoring of artists.

  • Assisting in the development of existing and new workflows by collaborating with other cross discipline stakeholders.

  • Participate in recruitment, mentoring, training and onboarding programs defined by the Talent Development Team.

You need the following:

  • Extensive knowledge in Houdini and Nuke.

  • Experience as light lead or supervisor or experience in a similar role.

  • Ability to remain calm and confident in a fast-paced environment.

  • Understanding and solid artistic instincts in photography, film-making, design and story-telling.

  • Passion and drive for VFX.

  • Great artistic eye and understanding what constitutes world class imagery.

  • Creative problem-solving skills.

  • A humble and helpful attitude.

  • A structured approach to setups, templates and workflows.

  • Excellent communication skills in English, both written and verbal.
