Team Overview:

As a Senior Field Applications Engineer at Impinj, you will serve as the primary field-deployed technical liaison between Impinj and our global ecosystem partners, channel partners, and end-user customers. This role works closely with our India sales lead, including traveling to customer sites to provide on-site support and answer technical questions from customers. Combining deep RF and RAIN RFID technical expertise with strong customer-facing skills, you'll drive pre-sales enablement, product industrialization, and post-sales support across India. India is a growing market for RAIN RFID, especially with its push into digitization. We hope you'll join us to help lead this transformation and become part of Impinj's exciting journey!

What you will do:

  • Serve as the primary technical liaison for end-user customers, channel partners, and complementary technology partners
  • Support pre-sales efforts by aligning the technical benefits of Impinj products to customer requirements, including writing proposals and delivering technical presentations
  • Troubleshoot and resolve complex field issues through structured root cause analysis
  • Develop and implement solution strategies that address significant business challenges for customers who can benefit from item intelligence using Impinj's RAIN RFID solutions
  • Develop innovative product demonstrations along with training programs and support customer trials and pilots
  • Facilitate multi-partner solution development initiatives and work with the sales account manager to extend Impinj's solutions into new verticals
  • Contribute to the improvement of Solutions Engineering processes and resources
  • Build and maintain strong working relationships with technical staff and key contacts across partner organizations and internal Impinj departments
  • Develop deep understanding of customer needs and convey insights to product management, applications engineering and marketing to inform product strategy and roadma
  • Provide in-region, proactive and reactive technical support to ecosystem partners industrializing new products based on Impinj RAIN RFID UHF tag ICs and Reader ICs
  • Assist and advise Impinj RFID Tag IC customers on manufacturing best practices and provide onsite technical support for RFID wafer, tag, and inlay qualification and manufacturing
  • Provide end-user support for key acceptance and quality milestones in production deployments
  • Participate in trade shows alongside marketing and sales team members

What you will bring:

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience; advanced degree (Master's in Engineering) is a plus but not required
  • 7+ years of experience in field applications engineering, pre-sales solutions engineering, or RF/silicon engineering
  • Excellent problem-solving skills with a structured, analytical approach
  • Strong knowledge of RF principles including link budgets, antenna design, propagation, and unlicensed spectrum characteristics
  • Familiarity with high-volume manufacturing processes and machinery used in RF product manufacturing
  • Broad understanding of hardware, software, and networking technologies, including system architecture, testing, and field debugging
  • Basic proficiency in .NET (C#), C, or C++ in Windows or Linux environments; embedded C/C++ in Linux is a plus
  • Outstanding written and verbal communication skills in English; presentation and interpersonal skills; ability to represent Impinj effectively to technical audiences
  • Strong relationship-building skills and multicultural competency
  • Team-oriented approach with proven ability to collaborate
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently from a home office and produce results in the field while maintaining strong communication with geographically distributed colleagues
  • Willingness and ability to travel 25–50%, including international travel

Individual base pay depends on various factors such as complexity and responsibility of role, job duties, requirements, and relevant experience and skills. Both market wage data and the mid-point of the pay range is reviewed and used as the starting point for all new hire offers. Offers are made within the base pay range applicable at the time.

At Impinj certain roles are eligible for additional rewards, including merit increases, annual bonus and stock. These awards are allocated based on individual performance. In addition, certain roles also have the opportunity to earn sales incentives based on revenue or utilization, depending on the terms of the plan and the employee’s role.
