Illumina is seeking a Director, Business Development to drive strategic growth for the BioInsights Business Unit. In this highly visible leadership role, you will develop and execute partnerships that accelerate the adoption of genomics, multiomics, and AI-enabled analytics across pharmaceutical, biotechnology, healthcare, and research organizations.
Working closely with senior leaders across R&D, Product, Commercial, Legal, and Finance, you will identify new growth opportunities, build strategic relationships, and lead complex collaborations that create long-term value for customers and patients worldwide
Responsibilities
- Develop and execute the global business development and partnership strategy for BioInsight, leading across APAC and supporting across other regions.
- Build and maintain senior relationships across pharmaceutical, biotechnology, healthcare, academic, and government organizations.
- Source, negotiate, and close strategic collaborations, licensing agreements, and commercial partnerships.
- Identify new growth opportunities across genomics, multiomics, drug discovery, precision medicine, and AI-enabled analytics.
- Lead complex transactions from opportunity assessment through contract execution and ongoing partnership management.
- Partner with cross-functional teams to translate scientific innovation into commercial impact.
- Represent Illumina externally at industry events, customer engagements, and executive forums.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Life Sciences, Genomics, Molecular Biology, Bioinformatics, Business, or a related field. MBA, PhD, MD, PharmD, or equivalent advanced degree will be preferred.
- 18+ years of experience in business development, strategic partnerships, licensing, corporate development, or commercial leadership within biotechnology, genomics, diagnostics, or pharmaceutical industries.
- Experience in data partnerships, technology licensing, multiomics, AI-enabled drug discovery, or precision medicine.
- Experience evaluating strategic investments, acquisitions, or corporate partnerships.
- Proven track record of originating, negotiating, and closing strategic partnerships.
- Strong understanding of genomics, multiomics, drug discovery, and precision medicine markets.
- Demonstrated ability to influence and build relationships with senior and executive-level stakeholders.
- Established network across pharmaceutical, biotechnology, or healthcare organizations.
- Willingness to travel up to 30%
