Position Overview: The Safety professional is responsible for driving operational excellence, workplace safety, and process efficiency throughout the production and Fabrication process. This role leads initiatives focused on improving productivity, reducing waste, enhancing product quality, and maintaining compliance with all safety and environmental regulations.
Key Responsibilities:
- Promote Safety, Health, Environmental Responsibility and Quality
- Manage large health and safety teams and budgets.
- Conduct training in health and safety management and procedures.
- Conduct audits of health and safety issues and performance.
- Participate in or lead incident investigations.
- Ensure accurate reporting and follow up of incidents.
- Support regional management in managing health and safety issues.
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in either Health/Safety sciences/engineering, Environmental sciences/engineering or other nationally recognized base level qualification in health and safety with minimum experience listed below.
- 3-5 years’ health and safety experience in either the construction, steel, metals reclamation, and/or manufacturing industries.
- Experience in conducting health and safety audits.
- Recognized certification such as CSP, CIH, etc.
- Ability to read, analyze, and interpret technical data.
- Ability to write in a clear and concise manner.
- Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions.
- Develop and deliver an effective health and safety program at the site, promoting Corporate, Divisional, and site-specific health and safety standards and work practices.
- Ensure that health and safety training is delivered to a high standard and at the right time.
- Develop programs and procedures to meet business requirements without compromising health and safety.
- Conduct site tours and audits to ensure required company procedures and best practices are being implemented at the operational level.
- Ensure that all incidents are reported and effectively investigated by operational management by providing technical support and advice and taking the lead as necessary in the most serious cases.
