Position Summary/Overview
The Unity Center is seeking a creative, organized, and reliable Student Media Assistant to help document and promote Unity Center programs and events. This role plays a key part in ensuring students feel seen, valued, and represented through visual storytelling.

Position Title: Student Media Assistant
Department: Unity Center
Hiring Manager: Cliff-Simon Vital
Pay Rate: $16.00 per hour (Plus standard annual increases when applicable)
Term of Employment: Full Academic Year (Fall and Spring Semesters, Winter and Summer opportunities are also available)
Key Responsibilities
- Attend Unity Center programs and events to capture high-quality photos and videos
- Create engaging social media content, including reels, short videos, and recap posts
- Organize and maintain digital media files in a structured and accessible way
- Collaborate with staff to highlight key moments, stories, and student experiences
- Support the creation of event recaps and promotional materials
- Assist in advancing the Unity Center’s mission of fostering belonging and visibility for all students
- Attend regular staff meetings and contribute ideas for content and storytelling
Qualifications
- Strong organizational and time management skills
- Interest or experience in photography, videography, or content creation
- Comfortable using social media platforms (Instagram, etc.)
- Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings or weekends for events
- Reliable, responsible, and able to meet deadlines
- Passion for storytelling and supporting diverse student communities
Preferred Skills (Not Required)
- Experience with editing tools (e.g., Canva, Adobe Premiere, CapCut, Lightroom)
- Eye for visual composition and storytelling
- Previous involvement with campus programming or events
