HOURS/SCHEDULE: Monday through Thursday, 5:00am to 3:30pm
HOURLY/SALARY STATUS: Hourly
POSITION OVERIVEW:
The machinist shall support Hussey Seating Company manufacturing needs through building tools and performing die maintenance. They will be responsible for implementation new production processes. The successful candidate will work with a highly skilled team providing solutions that solve engineering and production issues.
The function of the Machinist is to assist in the development and continuous improvement of Production processes, provide guidance to employees regarding tooling that they specifically modify. Some of the tasks that the machinist may be asked to do are build specialty tools, manual and pneumatic welding tooling, and assembly tools.
DUTIES and RESPONSIBILITIES
Update and improve current equipment capabilities and processes through fixturing/ tooling improvements.
Support the quality department when called upon to assist building measuring tools.
Work with tooling/design engineers to improve current fixturing designs.
Participate in tooling design review to assist in developing the best innovative tooling concepts and builds
Build all components necessary for a fixture design
Building entire fixtures from blueprint/ design package
Pneumatic plumbing of tooling
Running electrical wires and connecting sensors.
Work to a scheduled completion date
Maintain accurate records and files according to quality standard.
Ensure all relevant safety objectives and PPE requirements are observed for all work completed.
Provide machining support to Maintenance and Manufacturing in order to resolve operational problems.
COMPETENCIES: (Knowledge, Skills and Abilities)
Excellent fundamental knowledge of Manufacturing principles
Proficient with conversational controls (preferably ProtoTrak machine tools)
Strong understanding of OSHA safety requirements
Ability to effectively follow blueprints and provide technical assistance
Highly motivated self-starter with reputation for showing initiative
Ability to troubleshoot fixturing problems
Effective time management skills and ability to manage projects as assigned
Well organized and efficient with the ability to plan and organize work tasks to meet department objectives
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
Strong interpersonal skills and professional demeanor
Strong attention to detail
Team player with the ability to establish and maintain good working relations with internal teams as well as contribute to the ongoing engagement and development of the manufacturing teams.

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE/ADDITIONAL QUALIFICATIONS:
High school education (or equivalent)
Minimum 1-5 years of professional experience in a machine shop environment.
Ability to work in a fast-paced environment where priorities are shifting regularly.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
Able to lift up to 50 lbs.
Excellent manual dexterity
Must wear Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) as required.

Hussey Seating Company uses a market-based approach to compensation. The anticipated starting range for this position is $26.85 to $40.27 per hour. Individual compensation is determined based on several factors, including experience, skills, education, certifications, internal equity, and the responsibilities of the position.
