Graphic Designer II - Creative Development 

Role Description: Huitt-Zollars, Inc. is seeking a Graphic Designer II with an intermediate level (2-4 years) of experience to be located in Orlando, FL or Los Angeles, CA. 

This position is anticipated to co-locate on-site within our client’s office and client’s staff in either Orlando or Los Angeles and/or work in-office at Huitt-Zollars Orlando or Los Angeles locations.

This role is responsible for developing visual communication systems, environmental graphics, signage, and branded content that support themed entertainment, experiential environments, hospitality, and destination-based mixed-use projects. This position focuses on translating narrative, brand, and experiential intent into clear, engaging, and cohesive graphic solutions that enhance the overall guest experience.

This full-time role includes graphic design development, visual communication, and interdisciplinary coordination. Duties include but are not limited to, development of environmental graphics, signage systems, brand integration, and support of design documentation and production. This role works in alignment with the Vice President of Creative Development and other Creative team members to translate creative intent into coordinated, buildable graphic solutions while maintaining design integrity throughout all phases of project delivery.

Location: On-site/in-office and co-located with client and client staff in either Orlando, FL or Los Angeles, CA and/or Huitt-Zollars Orlando, FL or Los Angeles, CA offices (no relocation or fully remote arrangements offered)

Graphic Designer II Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Perform at a competent level and skill in visual communication, design, environmental integration, collaboration, communication, problem solving, planning and organizing, and adaptability.
  • Independently develops environmental graphics, signage systems, and visual communication elements across projects and disciplines.
  • Translate narrative, brand, and experiential intent into graphic design solutions that support guest engagement.
  • Design wayfinding systems, interpretive graphics, branded environments, and informational signage.
  • Support development of graphic standards including typography, color, iconography, and visual systems.
  • Collaborate with show set designers, architects, and engineers to integrate graphics into the built environment.
  • Develop design documentation including graphic packages, layout drawings, and production-ready files.
  • Coordinate with fabricators and vendors to ensure graphic intent is maintained through production.
  • Participate in design reviews, interdisciplinary coordination meetings, and internal team discussions.
  • Support fabrication and installation phases including material reviews, mock-ups, and field coordination.
  • Ensure graphic solutions align with brand standards, accessibility requirements, and code compliance.
  • Communicate design ideas clearly through layouts, presentations, and visual documentation.
  • Efficient use and working knowledge of Rhino, Revit, Lumion, Adobe suite, Microsoft Office to produce quality work. 
  • Contributes to the development and execution of cohesive graphic and visual communication strategies.
  • Ensures graphic design supports overall guest experience, storytelling, and brand integration.
  • Supports coordination between creative, architectural, and technical disciplines.
  • Contributes to successful project delivery measured by design quality, clarity, and usability.
  • Assists in maintaining consistency and quality across all graphic deliverables.
  • Supports adherence to Huitt-Zollars’ business processes and quality management systems.
  • Participates in design reviews and quality control processes.
  • Maintains current knowledge of industry trends, tools, and best practices in graphic and environmental design.

Qualifications: 

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Graphic Design, Visual Communication, or related field (or equivalent experience).
  • 2-4 years of experience and intermediate skills in graphic design, experiential design, or related industries).
  • Familiarity with design and production tools Rhino, Revit, Lumion, Adobe suite, Microsoft Office needed. Enscape, 3DS Max, and/or Maya Zbrush is a plus.
  • Demonstrated ability to develop graphic systems and visual communication solutions.
  • Portfolio showcasing typography, layout, branding, and environmental graphic design.
  • Ability to translate conceptual ideas into clear, effective graphic solutions.
  • Experience working with architectural teams and integrated project environments is preferred.
  • Strong visual, verbal, and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively within multi-disciplinary teams.
  • Detail-oriented and proactive approach to design and coordination.
  • Ability to translate conceptual ideas into clear design solutions.
  • Experience working with architectural teams and integrated project environments is preferred.

Physical Requirements:

  • Sedentary work that requires prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer
