Training & Compliance Specialist
About this role
The Training & Compliance Specialist is responsible for developing, coordinating, and maintaining a structured, auditable training and compliance framework for all employees impacted by Environmental, Health & Safety (EHS), Operating Procedures, Information Technology (IT) requirements, and Human Resources (HR) policies. This position ensures employees are properly trained, informed, and qualified to perform their duties safely, efficiently, and in compliance with company standards, regulatory requirements, and internal policies across all operating assets and corporate functions.
Duties/Responsibilities:
- Develop, implement, and maintain enterprise-wide training programs related to EHS, operating procedures, IT systems, and HR policies.
- Ensure training programs are role-based, current, documented, and auditable.
- Coordinate required training for new hires, existing employees, and employees transitioning into new or expanded roles.
- Partner with Operations, EHS, HR, and IT to ensure training content reflects actual work practices, systems, equipment, and regulatory requirements.
- Ensure employees performing safety-critical, regulated, or covered work complete required training prior to performing unsupervised work.
- Coordinate refresher, remedial, and corrective-action training as required.
- Support EHS and regulatory compliance efforts by ensuring training aligns with OSHA, PSM, DOT, PHMSA, and applicable state requirements.
- Coordinate training related to Operating Procedures, including awareness, adherence, and updates driven by Management of Change (MOC).
- Oversee IT-related training, including system access, cybersecurity awareness, data protection, and acceptable-use policies.
- Coordinate HR policy training related to conduct, ethics, attendance, performance expectations, and workplace standards.
- Administer and track training activities through the company Learning Management System (LMS).
- Maintain accurate, complete, and auditable training records.
- Generate training reports and metrics to support leadership review and audit readiness.
- Identify training gaps, trends, and opportunities for continuous improvement.
- Support audits, inspections, and assessments related to training and compliance programs.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
Required Skills/Abilities:
- Strong understanding of enterprise training programs and compliance requirements.
- Working knowledge of EHS regulations, operating procedures, and policy governance.
- Ability to effectively coordinate across Operations, EHS, HR, and IT teams.
- Strong organizational, documentation, and recordkeeping skills.
- Ability to identify training gaps and implement corrective actions.
- Effective written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to manage multiple initiatives and priorities concurrently.
- High attention to detail with a focus on consistency and audit readiness.
- Familiarity with Learning Management Systems and training-tracking tools.
Education and Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Safety, Operations, Human Resources, or a related field preferred.
- Minimum of five (5) years of experience in training, compliance, operations, EHS, HR, or a related function.
- Experience working in a regulated or industrial environment preferred
Certifications:
• Professional certifications related to safety, training, human resources, or compliance preferred (e.g., CSP, SHRM, PMP, or equivalent)
Physical Demands and Hazards for Office Employees:
This position requires prolonged periods of sitting, frequent computer use, occasional lifting of office supplies, and may involve travel.
