Performs a wide variety of engineering tasks to establish and control methods manufacture of machined aerospace components and assemblies. Reviews and analyzes customer engineering data, and associated specifications, to identify the manufacturing methods essential for the fabrication and assembly of complex aerospace components. Coordinates with customers to resolve engineering technical issues discovered during engineering review. Maintains internal procedures to ensure and sustain product configuration integrity. Generates manufacturing work instructions and prepares bills of material (BOMs) to support the fabrication, processing and assembly of complex Aerospace products. Analyzes discrepant or damaged products, in accordance with internal nonconformance reports and /or customer dispositions and issues applicable rework/repair instructions. Identifies preventative and corrective actions, necessary for future production.

This position has no supervisory responsibilities.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Safety: Develop and support safe work environments (both in the shop and the office)
Analyze new and revised customer engineering data to manage product configuration
Support new product introduction (NPI) process through NPI and NRE team participation
Supports product configuration control through “change board” team participation
Coordinates engineering data conflicts via customer web-based discrepancy reporting systems
Prints engineering data packages and provides to Quality assurance for control and release to shop
Generates detailed step-by-step work instructions for manufacturing of complex machined details and assemblies. Heavy emphasis on assembly practices
Generates detailed requirements for outsourcing of fabricated components
Coordinates machining sequences and raw material requirements with N/C programming manager
Creates bills of materials to support acquisition of raw materials, rivets, bolts, etc.
Coordinates requirements for shop and processing visual aid
Provides technical support to internal departments as well as outsource vendor bases
Provides support to 6 sigma lean events as directed
Identifies and implements process improvement tools in manufacturing processes from raw material delivery to manufacturing and through finished goods delivery
Ensures the appropriate flow of technical information between internal and external customers
Performs shop liaison actions to support engineering changes in shop released work instructions.
Communicate effectively (verbal and written) with all contacts
Accept and adapt easily to change

QualificationsRequirements

2+ years’ direct experience as aerospace manufacturing engineer/ planner
Knowledge of aerospace metal fabrication, machining and assembly practices required.
Must have experience reading engineering drawings and a strong ability to interpret multiple aerospace industry specifications and standards
Thorough knowledge of geometric dimensioning and tolerance practices (GD&T)
Proficient with MRP/ERP software systems (experience with Syteline MRP is preferred)
Proficient using Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, Access)
Some experience in using CAD systems such as Autocad, DraftSight, CATIA, etc. is preferred
Must be highly motivated, detailed and team oriented
Ability to meet frequent short timeline goals and deadlines
Self-starter with ability to perform job responsibilities with minimal direction
Exhibits dependability, including following instructions; responding to supervisor’s direction; and taking responsibility for own actions
Ability to take initiative, including asking for and offering help when needed, and perform work independently without being prompted
