The Company

Hitachi Particle Engineering and Services, Inc. (HPES) provides service and maintenance operations to Particle Therapy systems. Accsys Technologies, a division of HPES designs and manufactures ion RF LINAC systems (radio frequency linear accelerator), which are used in Particle Beam Therapy systems and R&D applications. Hitachi Particle Engineering and Services, Inc. is a Hitachi Group Company.

Summary:
Hitachi Particle Engineering and Services, Inc. “Maintenance Service Technician I” is self-motivated and mechanically/electrically skilled to provide service and maintenance to the Particle Beam Therapy (PBT) System which is used for cancer treatment. The Technician will be responsible for preventative and corrective maintenance of the PBT system and will work as part of a small team of technicians to ensure the proper function of main PBT system and sub-systems in compliance to Hitachi regulation.

Responsibilities

  • Monitor and provide support to positively affect operational performance and patient experience.

  • Respond to service support calls within a timely manner.

  • Interface with customers to ensure maximum customer satisfaction.

  • Work in compliance with all regulatory standards including but not limited to, HIPPA, EH&S, FDA, OSHA, Radiation Safety, and internal policies.

  • Utilize proper safety practices and PPE to ensure maximum safety (Safety shoes, Harness, Gloves, etc.)

  • Safely work in areas with high voltage and utilize proper LOTO (lock-out, Tag-out) safety practices.

  • Perform all Preventative/Corrective maintenance tasks and corresponding paperwork (PM, CM expand CM criteria and Work Order) in detailed and organized fashion.

  • Capable of performing the following PBT PM’s (Daily’s, Weekly’s, Monthly’s, Tri-Monthly’s [if site applicable] and Semi-Annual’s) under the guidance of Maintenance Service Technician II.

  • Correctly complete Inventory Adjustment Form (IAF), Check Sheet, Daily Site Service Report (DSSR), and Work Orders to ensure proper documentation.

  • Work with team members to schedule PM work to minimize part costs and maximize effectiveness.

  • Self-motivated and have strong sense of responsibility.

  • Understanding Treatment workflow and customer system utilization to ensure proper issue resolution to increase customer support.

  • Maintain an understanding of proper PBT system specific vocabulary and awareness for effective communication and problem resolution.

  • Ability to capture system data and report trends and concerning observations and report to site engineer and management.

  • Ability to resolve minor PBT issues to maintain system uptime under the guidance of Tech II. (Force vector recoveries, Patient Positioning System (PPS)/Gantry cabinet reboot, treatment abort data collection, etc.)

  • Able to properly construct outage report emails to convey up to date details to improve customer satisfaction.

  • Create and incorporate newly written procedures with engineering and management approval.

  • Keep and maintain inventory record of chemical expirations and storerooms supplies.

  • Keep and maintain expiration dates of calibrated tool, and report finding to Site manager and site administrator.

  • Inspect and test Incoming/outgoing materials and participate in shipment preparations.

  • Complete and submit all timecards and service reports in a timely fashion and includes all relevant details.

  • Create and maintain 6S practices (Safety, Sort, Store, Shine, Standardize, Sustain)

Qualifications:

  • Ability to read and interpret engineering documents (Schematics, wiring diagrams etc.)

  • Ability to utilize measurement instruments (Oscilloscopes, Multi-meters, Leak detectors, etc.)

  • Ability to technically utilizing hand tools such as screwdrivers, wrenches, pliers, and hammers to ensure the safe and precise assembly and disassembly of equipment.

  • Safely lift up-to 50 pounds repeatedly and work in elevated areas with safety harness.

  • Ability to work in Elevated work zone

  • Safely work in regions of mechanical, electrical, high voltage and radiation.

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint)

  • Work compressed work week as part of a cross-functional team.

  • Flexibility to cover rotating shifts and availability to work overtime as needed.

  • Certifications in the follow PMs required (Daily’s, weekly’s Monthly’s, Tri-Monthly’s)

Education:

  • High School Graduate or GED

  • Trade School or 1 year with Electrical/Mechanical experience preferred.

Pay is determined based on a variety of factors including, but not limited to, depth of experience in the practice area.
