Job description

The Database Platforms Lead is responsible for defining, designing, and governing the enterprise database platform strategy and architecture. This role ensures database technologies are scalable, secure, resilient, and optimized to support operational and analytical workloads across the organization. The position provides technical leadership for database standards, performance, availability, automation, and lifecycle management while partnering with engineering, infrastructure, security, and application teams.
Key Responsibilities
• Lead the strategy, architecture, and standards for enterprise database platforms
• Oversee database operations, administration, monitoring, and support
• Ensure high availability, backup, recovery, and disaster recovery capabilities
• Manage database performance tuning, capacity planning, and scalability
• Define and enforce database security, access controls, and compliance requirements
• Drive automation for provisioning, patching, monitoring, and maintenance
• Support database design, optimization, troubleshooting, and incident resolution
• Lead database upgrades, migrations, and modernization initiatives
• Establish operational procedures, runbooks, and documentation
• Collaborate with application, infrastructure, security, and network teams
• Mentor and guide database engineers or DBAs
• Evaluate emerging database technologies and recommend platform improvements
• Monitor and control platform costs and resource utilization

Preferred Qualifications
• Experience with major database platforms such as Oracle, SQL Server, PostgreSQL, MySQL, MongoDB, or cloud-managed databases.
• Experience with cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure
• Familiarity with automation, infrastructure-as-code, DevOps, and CI/CD practices.
• Experience leading database migrations, consolidation, or modernization programs.
• Background in database observability, monitoring, and operational excellence.
