HHS Government Services, a federal government contractor, is seeking an On-Call EVS Housekeeper to support facility operations at Randolph Air Force Base near San Antonio, Texas. This position is on-call and as-needed, primarily covering second shift hours. The EVS Housekeeper is responsible for maintaining a clean, safe, and sanitary environment for hospital staff, patients, and visitors in a healthcare setting on a U.S. military installation.
Candidates must be able to obtain and maintain government installation access and are expected to be available and responsive when called upon for scheduling.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Cleans and disinfects patient rooms, beds, gurneys, examination tables, restrooms, offices, and common areas to a clean aseptic standard
Performs terminal cleaning of patient rooms and special procedure areas including surgical suites, Labor and Delivery, Emergency Rooms, Cath Lab, Burn Unit, Neonatal, and Pediatrics per HHS procedures
Collects and disposes of regular trash, Regulated Medical Waste (RMW), and recyclables in accordance with applicable regulations
Collects and removes soiled linen into appropriate bins
Replenishes hand soap, hand sanitizer, and other supplies as needed
Dust mops and wet mops floors using microfiber materials and disinfectants per standard operating procedures
Handles cleaning chemicals in compliance with OSHA, EPA, The Joint Commission, and State Health Department regulations; ability to read and understand Safety Data Sheets (SDS)
Uses appropriate Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) at all times
Dusts horizontal and vertical surfaces, spot washes walls, cleans and polishes fixtures, air vents, handrails, blinds, windows, and sills
Maintains assigned janitor's closet in a clean and organized condition
Reports maintenance needs to supervisor in a timely manner
Adheres to key control, ID badge, and HIPAA policies at all times
Follows all HHS safety protocols and bloodborne pathogen procedures in accordance with the OSHA Bloodborne Pathogen Standard and HHS Exposure Control Plan
Other duties as assigned
Qualifications
High school diploma or GED preferred
Minimum one year of housekeeping experience in a hospital or healthcare environment required
Ability to communicate, read, write, and understand English
Must be available for on-call scheduling primarily on second shift (approximately 3:30 PM to 12:00 AM)
Must be able to obtain and maintain government installation access credentials (DBIDS or equivalent)
Must pass a federal background check and pre-employment drug screening prior to hire
Physical Requirements
Ability to walk for extended periods and perform bending, kneeling, pushing, pulling, and stretching as required
Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
